Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

I don't think Quinn signed with a great reputation, many thought he was a donkey, more so after his first game, but he proved everyone wrong.

My point was 30 doesn't mean he's nearly finished, he could have another 4 or 5 years in him easy if he keeps himself fit. Players aren't retiring as young as they once did. We're signing a player at their peak, off the back of a 20 goal plus season.
He didn't prove me wrong, I'd seen Niall Quinn play on many occasions and I knew he was a class act. I always wanted Sunderland to sign him, I couldn't believe it when we did. I was gutted when he got the season ending injury. If Quinn had stayed mostly fit, we would of 100% stayed up that year, he was that good, and influential.

Are you pissed?

Im fully aware of what happened last summer etc etc and criticised it BUT im also able to see that signing browne and poveda and about to sign Mendy plus the current talent in the squad plus a new gaffer playing footy to suit our players that things can turn in our favour if we continue to sign experienced and hopefully quality players.

Our squad doesnt require alot of adjustments it just requires smart ones ajd so far we are heading in the right directions albeit 12 months later than we should have.

Cant change the past so no point crying over it. We are in an excellent position and can challenge with the right additions.

Am I pissed then you come out with that 😂😂.

Did you even read what I said? Last summer was EXACTLY the same. People were concerned we didn’t get was required, and the exact same abuse was thrown out.

Exactly the same rationale was used, “if people can’t see we’ve improved there are Fannie’s”. I’ll repeat look how that turned out.

I’ll spell it out for you seen as you find it so hard to understand. People’s concerns were rubbished and abused exactly the same 12 months ago, they were told they were wrong and they were bang on. You’re doing exactly the same thing now, you’re assuming your correct and people showing concern are wrong.

We haven’t addressed the imbalance in the squad weve spent £0 and we still don’t have a capable striker or dcm, yet your right and those with concerns who were bang on 12 months ago and told they were wrong, are obviously wrong again.

Are you pissed?

Anything other than promotion this season is a failure, same as last 2 seasons.
As you say 'biggest club' outside of the premier, it's f...g disgrace man.
Last years squad failed miserably and we haven't improved it,never mind singe a striker.
Think you’re getting a bit carried away there. We’ve signed Browne, who already looks our best midfielder along with Neil, and Poveda, who looks like he has a lot of quality.
We’re all frustrated we haven’t signed a striker yet, but haway man.

Last summer we signed 4 forwards, how was that possibly the same? I also don't think we intend to play with a defensive midfielder.

I 100% agree with you, our squad is talented, our first choice 11 will be competitive in every game. We are missing an obvious position which will do so much for the players around them if we can fix it.

We'll probably never ever see that though. Ballard and Huggins are likely starters when fit. Seelt would normally replace Ballard but is out. Our new backup winger isn't fit. We also have Triantis and Ekwah missing

The exact same thing was said last year, anyone showing concern was treat with this shit, threads made “pointing and laughing” when we “signed what was needed” remind me how that turned out will ya?

It’s pathetic man, people are justified in there concerns.

The lad is entirely justified in saying this.

For one - “if” we sign the striker is doing some of the work. “If” we do and he’s ok, then that will massively help compared to last year.

But more importantly - coaching. The head coach is the biggest variable in football. Last year was a demonstration of that: Mowbray out and everything fell apart. We have changed ours and therefore things should be radically different.

I wouldn’t go all happy-clappy on it - Le Bris could be absolutely shite. Then we are in huge, huge, trouble.

But it is not irrational to think this year will be different based on changing coach. It should be priced in.

We could have signed 50 it’s besides the point.

Posters were concerned, they expressed there concerns on this board, the same way they are this year and we’re rubbished and called Fannie’s. They were correct.

Posters are concerned we haven’t addressed issues and don’t look stronger than we did last year. The exact same thing is happening again, it’s rubbish, people are Fannie’s, “we’ve clearly improved”.

Even the 11 we go into Saturday with, will be competitive. Yes I know there's an obvious hole in the team, but does anyone on here think we can't win?

Triantis and Ekwah are back in training as well I believe.

He is adamant everyone showing concern is wrong and he’s right.

Remains to be seen which Ekwah we get back - I really hope it’s the one who looked great when he firsyt got into the team.

We were 1 point off the playoffs after 32 games, we were amongst it until Clarke got injured and Dodds was appointed, I'm not convinced they were correct about the squad. I'm not arguing about strikers, those concerns are obviously correct, everyone agrees.

Any insults on here are dumb like, I try to avoid it, totally pointless.

If we could get the one from the home Luton playoff game more often we'd be much better for it.

Yeah that all ok
However why is poveda not match ready we’ve had him a few weeks now why bring a supposedly first team starter to our club who is not ready to play
Ohhhhhhh and we’ve had plenty of time to get a striker in place
So we are going to start the season with still wanting first team starters
We can manage HOWEVER

Poveda signed 13 days ago, obviously having been a free agent all of pre season. Probably 3-4 weeks behind the rest of the squad, hopefully he will get some time in the PNE game in the cup.

I agree we've had plenty time to get a striker.

My definition of "plenty of time" in this context is a few months, ie; start planning toward the end of what was an obviously disappointing season, identify your target(s), get him signed. 18 months to two years, depending on your viewpoint, stretches the definition like a bucket load of silly putty.
