ExactlyThat’s exactly what we should avoid, buying just anyone. We have three strikers who aren’t ready to do the job, buying another one won’t help.

And yet, how often are players signed first day in the transfer window...I'd suspect it's mainly because clubs have no interest in their players being unsettled by ongoing negotiations during the season run-in.
Can you send this to KLD and Speakman as it's a really good random stat which is embarrassingJust opened the EFL fantasy league and filtered out our forwards as it shows a percentage of who has picked players. Clarkey is down as forward and 5.7% picked him.
0% the others.
Even Oxford have 2 picked, Derby have 4.
Leanne likes thisCan’t see the fans holding back this season if we don’t sign a proper striker.
Ah, sorry because it seemed like a defence of the club In earlier posts. Most here think we've wasted it on shit but if they've banked it that's just as bad. The money spent by championship teams so far this summer is hugely telling. We don't have form for great later signings either.That's... my point.
That's true for overseas bosmans. Doesn't seem to happen very often though as agents know they can get a better deal by pitting clubs against each other when the window is open and clubs have missed out on other targets though. And yet, how often are players signed first day in the transfer window...
Correct us if I'm wrong but I believe we could of negotiated directly with foreign players in the last six months of their contract anyway.
Your 100% correct. I've mentioned his transfer record many times. He was our biggest outlay at that point, was and international, had played for arsenal and man city at top of league and played internationally. Dont remember him in 2nd division of French football. We signed Quinn when he was 30 and we got 6 years out of him. What a signing that was.
He never played in the 2nd division of French football, hope that helps mate. What was your point?Your 100% correct. I've mentioned his transfer record many times. My point is, as I'm sure you must have grasped, quinn was a quality player with vast experience at a high level of English football. Mendy is a very different kettle of fish, his experience is a very different kind. Now he may turn out to be a very good signing but his record isn't comparable. He never played in the 2nd division of French football, hope that helps mate. What was your point?

Do you know our budget before Stewart went and after. It looks very much like we splurged it late in the window knowing / gambling this deal was going to happen.Nah. What I was saying is our transfer budget should have increased by a decent percentage but it hasn't. Which worries me if we make a big sale late this summer if the same will happen
We havnt sold Clarke, we havnt sold Roberts .....extending contracts of Ballard & Rigg hopefully Neil soonlet's be patient and see how it pans out, by the way I'm not a happy clapper just a STID/KTF

ProtestGone on to long for me like
People assumed we'd sign more expensive players if we brought money in. The ownerships aim to keep the wagebill down and the evidence of signings since would indicate that's not the case. I've been saying for some time that the model isnt what people think it is. Its a player farm model which is designed to make money in the long run and not to achieve sporting success.Idk what the budget was at any point but our transfers in the summer we sold him weren't a higher class than the one before. I also don't believe Clarke and Ballard cost significantly less than, well all of the signings last year put together.
We could be after a couple who haven't been mentioned, the club appear to be reasonably good at keeping things quiet these days. Who knows, we may even have been knocked back by one or two. While there's no evidence to suggest we're in negotiations with anyone there's also nothing I've seen to suggest that Speakman and Harvey are sat on their hands or playing Scrabble all day. As ever I'll wait until the window closes before judging their performance.Eggs in one basket when we are clearly after Ugbo too?

This.
Saying that, it's difficult to source a quality centre forward.
