Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

It's why I really hope we get Mendy, looking at how prolific he's been with Caen in recent seasons and how many first time finishes and headers he scores, even if he struggles to adapt to general play, he should still be able to score if we create chances for him.

Even if he is poor, he looks strong and a quick turn of pace. Will be a hard person to mark due to his physicality

He said all parties- we might not have gone through with what we agreed either?
Ha’way man. He’s obviously pushing for them to let him leave, it couldn’t be any clearer from his statement unless you’re looking to pin this on SAFC.

It was reported they wanted to keep him. He said no, I’m leaving. Now they want more money. It seems pretty obvious what is going on.

I think you’re right, just interesting wording that could suggest we’ve also changed goalposts. I think it’ll happen but he’s going to take a while to adjust and we could have done with him being integrated in pre season.

The lad released a statement saying he’s been told he can go, it was all set up, and he hopes they stick to what they promised.
I can't recall the statement exactly, but iirc he had a gentlemans agreement with the club that they would let him go this summer, presumably if an acceptable offer was made ? I'm just guessing the last bit, but I'd be surprised if the agreement was that they'd let him go for any amount.

I think the most likely reason that they aren't letting him leave yet is because they haven't received a good enough offer. That's just the reason that makes most sense, if we want the player and the player wants to come, it usually just comes down to fee.

Also, reading the Caen forum, it appears to be common knowledge.
The source is an smb itk ? Thanks for the link, no further questions.

The club had already agreed a fee with us, and told him he could leave.

This isn’t our fault, no matter how much you insist it is.

Did they agree the fee with the folk who are no longer at the club or with the new owners?...as that could be two very different conversations and Mendy is their player last time I checked.

I'm not saying it is our fault. If they are wanting more than we can afford, then there's not much they can do, apart from move on or find the extra that it will cost to get the deal done.
Yeah, but apparently the transfer fee was already agreed with the previous owners.

The MBappe team then came in and reneged on the deal which, in my opinion, is a bit of a twats trick.

If it was all agreed then I'm sure both parties would have rushed it through before a change of ownership. That's not been the case, and the new owners either see him as someone they want to keep or our old offer isn't deemed acceptable.

Until we actually know the figures of these offers then its guesswork from all of us, bit if he wants to come and we want him, then the only thing that can really hold the deal up is how much his club value him at and if we agree, which doesn't look to be the case atm.

Every club and striker knows how desperate we are for a striker, of course they'll try to get more money out of us, it's called leverage.

I really don't think this fella will score more than 7-8 goals in this team and league. They get way more time on the ball in the french 2nd division, and our players last season struggled to service the forwards we played and they were left isolated.

You watched much of him marra? Whats he like?

Couldn’t point me in the direction of that post could you fella. Had a look but couldn’t find it?
Honestly do in you spend your spare time looking for posts on message boards? Some would say that’s freaky :-)

I appreciate you are very polarised being the lead happy clapper. However, some can complement the club when they do good business in tying up Rigg and Ballard but can also say the failure to secure a competent striker for 18 months is bad business.

I think you need to take a break from here because if you are stalking people on a message board it’s not good for your mental health.

Much easier to say “no, I can’t point you in that direction because I made it up”.

Be fair, he's told us TEN THOUSAND TIMES that he doesn't exaggerate.
Can you elaborate? What are you alleging I have said as I’m genuinely interested?

In terms of the shirt sales, the was discussion on here that we had outsold a number of premier league clubs including Aston Villa. From what I recall Aston Villa had sold 140,000 so therefore I would have said it’s fair to assume we had sold 100,000 strips.

If I’m wrong I apologise. However, the general point I was making was that a club with 32,000 season ticket holders (who has sold a lot of strips) should not be without a competent striker a week before the start of the season when the position has been known to need filling for 1& months.

We all love the club but blind devotion by 2 or 3 on here is a little sad with one trolling through old posts to try and prove some point, very sad.

I’m pretty sure I have said that but I’m saying it now so not sure what your point is?

You need to get out more because this is obviously effecting your mental health.

Some are clasping at straws to defend the club. If this was the case it should have been tied up.

Can't sign a striker till the club shop gets new stock of strips cos there is neen left.

To help you out, I’m pretty sure you didn’t and in the absence of any evidence, let’s assume I’m correct.

As a rule, before I spend too long engaging with a poster, I’ll do a cursory search of their history. Those that are critical of everything and fail to mention any positives, I tend to write of as WUMs not worth bothering with- it really takes no time and saves a lot of aggro.

Mental health, btw, is a serious issue for many so let’s try not to use it as a punchline to a “joke”.
