Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Timing is irrelevant? You are joking right? It's absolutely pivotal for RLB we have a good start this season. The club need to give him a proper chance and get a striker in.
I feel for RLB. From pre season it looks to me like he is tactically clever and knows what he wants. But if he doesn’t get a good start fans will hound him, simply because our fan base never gives times for adaptation etc
Dear me, Mowbray was sacked to cover up for the recruitment shambles last summer. Beale was Speakmans choice, remember the best coaching he has witnessed, another disaster and then his mate Dodds gets the gig for the 3rd time with Speakman happy to just plod along until the end of the season.
Beale was actually David jones pick

There should be a plan B in case he fks us off.

Someone hoyed up a list of transfers on here other day, and for all the apparent pant wetting by dissenters it PROVED that 15 out of 24 sides in our league had signed at LEAST 1 centre forward.

So it cannot be as complex as some say. It's a total piss take if we start another camapign with a useless forward line, inexcusable.
Yes, but we've signed a few centre forwards, I'm not quite sure what their plan was/is for them. I assume Rusyn was one for the here and now, Hemir was signed anticipating that he'd improve and develop and Mayenda was one for the future.

Out of the 15 signed for other clubs, how many of them would be a worthwhile signing for us?

Nah not at all like. I don’t constantly defend speakman I wasn’t happy at all last season. But I also know not to cry about a window until it’s over. Football changes fast and you could end up with two strikers in one week.

At least we are seeing an actual link to a striker and some details that it’s close and the player wants to come. I just hope we get it over the line.

But like I say there’s a month to go I’ll never judge a window until it’s closed. If it closes and speakman doesn’t get a striker then I’ll be saying his time is up personally.

be a good idea to get lads in with a bit pre season opportunity.

or we could wait and then introduce them to the side mid october.

100%. When Ross Stewart was up top banging them in people were still wanting rid of Speakman that narrative hasn't changed. It's just further enhanced by the fact he hasn't signed a striker. It's not a new thing it's just how it is and how it's always been.

KS has never been properly received by our fanbase even when doing very well. That's a fact. Of course he can be criticsed, of course he is underperforming when it comes to the striker situation but he can be doing that and still have done a largely good job overall, which he has. Questions are allowed to be asked nobody is saying otherwise but this theory that he needs to go and be sacked instantly is insane. We are in a far better place overall since he joined the club and I don't see how that can be questioned.
And that’s absolute bullshit.

Exactly. Use Blackburn for example everyone’s toys were out the pram yesterday because they’ve signed 3 when in reality I’d want none of them

I can appreciate your points on a striker.

We’ve signed Browne. To do the leg work in midfield, Dan Neil is good at that dcm role breaking up play from deep and it’s evident that RLB plans on using him there.

So if in your opinion you don’t like that then fair enough but in the clubs opinion they have addressed this
He isn't a dcm and again 3 free transfers with 9 days until we kick off against Cardiff, with a good chance Clarke will be away too.Neil was tried as a dcm last season, it was obvious he struggled there.

We seem to be following arsenal's approach of just not signing a cf despite it being a glaring weakness, to just play attacking midfielders there instead

Yes, similar midfield anarl eh?

We are hurtling back to where we were though under this ownership.

I disagree that he struggled. I thought he was brilliant last season and is pivotal in that role.

Likes receiving the ball, dictating play and his defensive game is improving every week

I don’t think there’s a good chance Clarke is away either

F*cking hell  So the owner and Speakman left it to Jones, he interviewed him and signed it off, off your nut you.

One again, there’s no source out there that I’ve seen anyway that claims what their valuation is. And tbf DCK is a mint poster on here and I’d like to think what he’s said is true

So if we sign 2 strikers by the end of the window and one has double figures in multiple seasons to his name are we still gonna be complaining?
Some will complain if they score 30

Disagreed. Financially in a much better position, value in the squad far far higher than it was, millions being spent off the field in numerous areas to set us up long term. Obviously, we need to sign a striker and a midfielder that's not in question, but we're a million miles away from the times where we got relegated from the championship / league one.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman has been discussing Michael Beale's appointment

Kristjaan Speakman says he is confident that Michael Beale is the right person to drive the next stage of Sunderland's footballing development.
The club's sporting director spoke at Beale's first press conference on Wednesday afternoon and outlined the reasons why the former Rangers and QPR boss had won the race to succeed Tony Mowbray, noting his work and talent on the training pitch as a key reason.
"You have a bit of an understanding about the coaches on the circuit, and our paths had crossed a few times," Speakman said.
"We always try to ensure that we have a really good understanding of the coaches that are out there doing well, doing different things, and outperforming [expectation]. "Everything we've seen in the first two days from Michael is exactly what we thought we were getting. An excellent on-field coach, his preparations, his thought processes behind training and what the boys are doing is some of the best work I've seen.

So we have one name on the list, great planning that by the recruitment since Stewart was sold  And again how many goals has Mayenda scored from open play last season and in pre season.
Mayenda played 8 times for SAFC last season,2 times for Hibs .He is 19 years old. Take a reality check. These young lads are here to learn. If you don't play how do you learn .Your words of wisdom are eagerly awaited .

0 goals and he couldn't get a game for Hibs, again it isn't his fault, it is the recruitment who like with Hemir threw players in the deep end who are nowhere near the standard for championship football
David jones was the one who put his name forward and pushed him internally. Yes Beale then impressed Speakman. Use your head.
Again

 he absolutely did struggle there, but not only that, imo he's completely wasted in that position. Another square peg for a round hole
