Regis le Bris - confirmed

Probably difficult to specifically recruit an assistant manager who you don't know, they can't just be great coaches, they are going to have to need a great rapport with the manager. So I guess they will need to work with him a bit before any decision is made.

Yeah it’s a tough one. Usually a #2 would be well known to the HC but in RLB’s case it’s likely he doesn’t know anyone with experience of it well.

Not sure how much Beard knows the league etc, seems to be a youth/lower league coach. His Brighton experience likely attractive to our lot.

You do realise much of the one touch and quick passing and impetus on quick countering whilst will become more natural the more it's played, will also lead to us giving opportunities to the opposition when pressed or when we lose the ball?

It will also lead to many sides sitting back, again and us having to work out how to get through.

Essentially without serious additions it will lead to us getting further up the pitch and then playing it slowly back to Roberts and Clarke, as we've done for so long, because they will show for and are comfortable with the ball at their feet.

Dress it up however you like but without additions it's unlikely to be much different.
So we shouldn't play that style then?

No, I'm quite looking forward to us trying.

Just pointing out that the same problems up the top end of the pitch, with similar or the same players will make it look overall quite similar. Unless we are imbalanced in terms of going forward and then we leave even more gaps.

Hopefully we get both the additions to make it work and the best out of what we have and then maybe we'll see some progress.
I think we got very lucky with Amad, not convinced any the top brass are insightful enough to conclude because of him we could abandon the necessity for a striker but you could be right.

I think it points more towards an approach of accumulating "promising talent" with an eye to future profit, not to future success.

If this was laid out bare to supporters a lot would not be happy, but we would at least understand. Speakman IS on record as saying we were hoping to go one better last season, he failed miserably, the holes in our team were as clear as day, no excuses at all.

We need to sell big this summer if that was always the plan, and if it is reinvest heavily, we need a really competent person to bring in genuine talent in areas of need to push us on to success.

If there is no real plan we are just going through the motions and bullshitting, it might be financially prudent, but it is not viable long term from a sporting perspective.

I think our inexperienced owner is being sold a pup by his management team. We will see, if I am wrong happy days.

More thinking after the event with Amad rather than any insight getting him to play instead of. They've constantly spoken about us not playing with a tradional number 9 or not needing another when Stewart was here/Gelhardt turned up and speaking about versatility and strikers playing accross the front line since. Only after January did their comments on that seen to change.

Speakman saying about going one better is no better than what Methven said on 100 points, given Methven's statement was taken out of context. Neither of them gave their respective manager/head coach the backing needed and both were soon similarly out of a job the following season.

I'm not sure at the moment - obviously Speakman and the collection of 'talent' means were are actually spending and he's getting too much of it wrong. But is KLD really going to release the purse strings to get a striker of some note or is it just leaving it to chance again with more bargain buys and hoping one comes good?

A concern is we've, from the outside looking in, appeared to have brought in a head coach who will play in the style that our director of football and owners want us to adopt - none of whom who were professional footballers or managers - rather than finding the best coach available and letting him adopt his playing style here.

It’s just outrage for the sake of outrage at the moment

I know it’s not rosey and we need a new striker but it’s the same arguments on every thread

The horse is not dead but is taking some major wallopings...

It's a farce it's gone on this long.

My guess is they don't want to pay the wages a competent striker will garner in a squad dominated by youth that will be on much less.

It matters not one jot how long it goes it on, if he's the player they have identified as being right for us we get to judge when he signs, or when we fail to get it done. Crying farce at this moment in time is precisely that, rushing to judgement without knowing how it may turn out. He may sign and turn out to be a pile of crap, I'd bet my house that you'd never heard of him before he cried foul to the media. You've no idea if he's worth the effort or not. Just another child in a man's body stamping your little feet because your needs are not being satisfied.

Unfortunately we have no crystal ball, we failed to anticipate the takeover, big deal. The outcome is all that matters.

Passed off as "venting" in order to give bubbling a more acceptable face. It reads more like pop in and fill their nappies day after day, or hour after hour from some of our more incontinent supporters. :)

It's not the message itself, it's the repetitive nature of the continual whining that bores the tits off people. We all know what's required and what's at stake, you're not passing on something that informs, make your point and move on.

Haha, the American's question at the end is so quintessentially American (for better or worse). I'd love to make it over at some point in my life, perhaps when we make it back to the Prem that's how I'll celebrate.

Regis is clearly really smart, very measured and calm. Hope that in game tactics are good, if so we might actually keep a manager for more than a season. Would like to see him bring in his own number 2, just to add another voice, could be an ally for him when he's surrounded by Speakman's people.

Fair point, although it has to be in Speakman's interests for this lad to succeed. Another Beale scenario would surely serve to weaken his position?
