I don't recall many players who bat that high in the order having such a poor series: 1, 0, 11, 1, 12, 8. To barely get a start over 6 innings suggests problems.
First class record isn’t anything to shout about either

Sadly the West Indies are just a very poor side couple of decent young bowlers but must be one of the worst batting line ups fielded by a side in recent years.
Ultimately the whole summer tells you little 6 tests against 2 of the poorest sides.
Atherton did a great piece at Trent Bridge about away sides since 2001 and their poor away records with only the Aussies winning more than losing away.
Test comes for the emerging bowlers bowling away with Kookaburra and it being soft and not swinging after 15 or 20 overs.
Have to hope the full battery of pace bowlers are fit when we are down under in 18 months.

Quite a long time until Sri Lanka, so would assume he’s fit for that. But interesting as to what they would do if he wasn’t
