Rhodes to Durham

Bungo Bill

Midfield
According to Cricinfo, Will Rhodes has turned down a new contract with Warwickshire and has agreed a long-term deal with Durham from next year.

It's bowlers we should be signing surely. We should have cut some slack financially with both Potts and Carse effectively off our payroll.
Bad news for Badger who has only one year left on his contract.
I hope we can keep Jones

I agree on we should be prioritising bowling stocks like. We aren’t producing the young bowlers we used to anymore. Rhodes bowls, and bowls well, but he isn’t an out and out bowler that we could really do with. I suspect that’s a sign that we will head that route with overseas again next year.

I would have given him a go for England a few years ago, but he seems to have dropped off badly.

Here's hoping for an Alex Lees style career resurrection.

Player of the tournament in captaining us to final captaining us to promotion with average of 40
We've already established that player of the tournament was daft as both Lees and Clark outperformed him by a mile.

He's a weak link our batting lineup if we have any intention of competing for the CC again. Should be no room for sentiment if that's the aim.

I think it's a good signing and agree this feels like a Borthwick replacement.

I'm sure he used to open for Warwickshire before they signed Davies.

Edit: yep career best 207 was as an opener

There's your team for next April then

Lees (C)
Rhodes
Ackermann
Bedingham
Robinson
Clark
De Leede
Carse
Raine
Potts
Parkinson

The same was being said about Ackermann this season mind.
And I'm sure that was the intention but Scott had a few good scores at the end of the season and then a few pre-season so he justifiably was in at the start and retained his place with Jones and DeLeede away for the world cup. Got to finish the season strongly again this season.
No doubt either way North may be well advised to stay well clear of daddy George🤧

I mean he effectively has seeing as we've kept Scott in the side by shoehorning him to open and it hasn't exactly worked well.

He's a decent captain but I'd be surprised if he's in the side next year and his deal expires at the end of next season too.
