Car Crash 16.4…

As mentioned in the other thread:

Some numbers that you may find interesting.

The 16.4 game is being shown for free on YouTube right now, via the Sky Sports Cricket page. Currently watching 823.

The Metro Bank One Day Cup Games currently on YouTube:

Surrey v Yorkshire - 6,101 viewers
Glamorgan v Gloucestershire 3,362 viewers

Make of that what you will.
Are the hundred games not shown on the BBC and Sky simultaneously.

Thought that was the whole point?

Hard to judge when the 100 was on BBC and sky sports as well. The only way to watch the 50 over stuff due to its neglect is on youtube

Andrew Strauss buying a franchise lol.

What is it with former England captains becoming utter f*cking morons?

A tremendous captain no doubt, who deserves huge respect for the way in which he dealt with his own personal tragedy and has turned that into Herculean charitable efforts. BUT, he has badly served the game which gave him his platform in the first place. His own financial business interests in the franchise arena (and cricket generally) does beg more questions. Especially when he’s making comments about shrinking the County Championship and making decisions to turn our World Champion creating white ball competitions into effectively Second XI competitions.

I don’t think they’re all on the Beeb. Only select games from memory.

A valid point, but it doesn’t say much for the format’s ‘global pull’ does it?

All those other cricket mad countries around the world, with countless billionaires wanting a piece of the pie…
that it was on BBC 2

See above.

Typical Tory using his position and influence to make personal financial gain.

Well the 16.4 is now losing more money than the county championship so its time the ECB stopped being pig headed, admit defeat and pull the plug or county cricket will go under.

It's just what I'd expect from people in power who can't admit they're wrong.

If it was their own business then fair enough but we're talking about a sport that many people in this country enjoy.

When county cricket goes under they'll walk away with a nice golden handshake. Shame they can't be thrown in jail.

They basically just want to sell it off now for private investment, as counties can't really benefit from it so created the 100 with franchise teams as a way to fill the coffers

It's not going to make money though. A p*ss pot tournament where there are more big names in the ongoing Canadian T20 (not just the US T20) than the 16.4.

This reminds me of Reynolds and those big plans he had for Darlington FC. How did that go again?

I agree. But thats what they're saying that they are putting their shares up for sale for private investment and apparently the tournament somehow was previously valued at 400mil

I wouldn't give them £40 personally but let them get on with it.

Someone will make a documentary about this in years to come similar to the one about Alan Stanford, it’ll expose all the corruption and the underhand tactics and shady dealings that went on and will show how numerous people should be doing jail time for their part in it.

Nobody will though.

This will end up being a bigger scandal than the Stanford one and it’ll be arguably one of the biggest scandals in the history of world sport.

It’ll be on Amazon Prime or Netflix in the True Crime section.

I struggle to believe that, I’m not doubting what you say, I just can’t see any logical in the valuation. UNLESS they included the worth of the players playing in it and the cost of leasing the grounds for the competition.

Feels very much akin to someone putting their own home (a three-bed mid terrace house in Brandon) up for sale for £3.5m despite the true valuation being no more than £100k.

I watched live so don't gave a clip unfortunately, but apparently their had previously been an offered 400mil for x amount of ownership.

I can't believe they've admitted it. Seeing Strauss bidding for a team after his high performance review, all just stinks like the Tory govt.

Long be been believed they only did it as they lost on on trademarking T20 and or Twenty20. Now all but confirmed

It’s akin to what several Tories did following Truss’ suicide budget. They bet against the country, then cashed in when the crash occurred.

Strauss has intentionally hampered and thus devalued the 18 counties, now he wants to buy in for maximum profit. He’s scum.

What's worse is this guy was ardently against in when he was ceo or something for Surrey. One of the most vocal against it

I’m not sure he’s changed his mind, let’s face it, there’s no way a FTECB 16.4 stooge would’ve committed to this omission.

I’m still of the belief he’s inside the tent pissing out.

I haven't seen a single ball of this year's tournament nor do I intend to but I've just heard Stokes got a first baller tonight.

Oh dear....

Didn’t even look bothered either.

Crowds look like they’ve fallen off a cliff edge this year.
