Women & Girls cricket

On
My concern is around the admission from FTECB that they are prepared to run it at a loss to begin with, because once they decide they can no longer fund it - Durham will have to fund it. Knowing how tight county cricket funds can be, my concern is that something will have to give when it comes to balancing the books.

Look at the struggle the club had previously ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ when it came to ground development - at FTECB’s behest. Then look at how they dropped us like a bad habit when we asked for help.
use our money from our Hundred team 😉

very promising talent, a good signing, needed a proper local lass in the team, My worry was they were going to sign Ami Cambpell as she was an old Durham womens player, but she hasnt been able to buy a run for a couple of years now and is 33

Perhaps you have daughters who play the game who will now have a proper defined pathway to the professional game? Can only be a good thing imo.
True but I'm just not seeing it. Same with the women's football. A lot was made about the girls winning the Euros (superb it was) but it's not really boosted attendances has it? It'll be good for the bairns up until a certain age but past that I'm not convinced

more of a local pathway now though, once you got over 18, you really had to up sticks and head to Leeds, Personally quite enjoy the womens games, yes its all short format but the battle between bat and ball is more evenly matched than the mens i think.

Has womens football not taken off more too, pains me to say it but them up the road have gone from getting one man and his dog in attendance, to getting 20K in St James Park, it cant just be because they are winning a few games

as far as Durham go theres been no identity with the Club at all for at least 5 years (who are the diamonds and the warriors?) would people not be more inclined to go and watch "DURHAM"

wonder what the set up in next year as the warriors no longer exist, hopefully have the womens team have an academy or 2nd XI under the professionals

northumberland will go back under their own umbrella id presume
