OP absolutely has a point, though. Displayed nothing but relegation form last season. Out of 24 teams last season, only 7 teams scored fewer than our 52 goals - and 3 of them got relegated

That's been debated to the Nth degree. We all know what our problems are, if the right players sign now or in 2 weeks what's the problem?

It's been perfectly summed up in the OP. Are we expecting a new player that signs up in 2 weeks time to bed in instantly with, let's be honest, a disjointed side?

And he’s had 2 years and counting to get a striker ready to compete at this level
 
Hopefully we have a good striker through the door in the next two weeks, but a championship proven striker I imagine would be tough on our budget, unless of course we utilise the loan market which is what I'm hopeful of. Even then though, likes of Cannon and Broadhead might be on too much for us.

If we got this Mendy, I'd like to see us get that Ipswich striker on loan, but with a view to a permanent move. Unlikely.

The problem will be as outlined to be fair…they won’t be as settled and prepared as they should be.

There’s a definite element of we are where we are and we just need to make the best of it, but we are where we are because Speakman has failed to deliver a striker for 2 years

If it was that easy all signings would be made early..it just doesn't work like that though.
I mean we're expecting departures and nee one has left yet
