SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

It impacts all the people who sit there. Just cause I sit in a different area doesn’t matter.

It impacts the club as as whole in ten years when a new owner, who gives a shit about doing a proper job has to take out the rails and replace the seats with proper rail seating instead of going ‘well that’s been done properly the first time — that’s one less job to do.’

You ever heard the phrase ‘buy well — buy once?’
How do you know they'll have to take them out? Sounds like you are just making stuff up

You’re missing the point. There’s been a theme over a number of years of owners doing a half-arsed job around the stadium. It’s a valuable asset and the lack of maintenance on it is really poor. I don’t understand why we have to do so many things on the cheap, instead of having more pride in the place.

It’s obvious. So you’re saying the plain, galvanised metalwork we’ve put in is more expensive than proper rail seating, with integrated seats, or properly painted metalwork?

I dunno,neither do you.
Here’s an analogy for you…

Imagine you decide to replace your old wooden front door. You’re well off — you can afford any door in the range. So you choose a nice composite door, with a lovely handle and letterbox, etc. You get it in the same colour to match your red garage, which costs a bit more. When it gets installed the fitters take the old frame out and replace that. ‘I’m gonna live here for a few years, so I’m gonna invest in something good.’

Imagine Sunderland’s owners got a new front door. They’d probably look through the catalogue and pick out the cheapest model of door. They’d tell the fitters to reuse the old letterbox and handle off the old door and fit it on the old frame, even though the frame will need replacing soon. Instead of paying the extra for the red one to match the garage, they’d go with white, cause the white door is the standard spec and cheaper. ‘It’s just a door — it does the same job.’

What would you rather do, if you had the money to get whatever door you wanted? Go for the cheapest one?

How do you know we could have put the rail seats in? There may not have been room. That's right, you don't, your just pissing your pants over nothing.

Shit analogy. Read the post above yours

Well there’s me told. 😂

Amazing how other clubs have managed to retro fit it into their ground, but not us.
I can use Google as well… 😉

But you said galvanised steel is a cheap option. It's not.Oh, and which other clubs?

“When powder coated galvanized steel is manufactured properly, it forms an aesthetically pleasing building component with superior longevity and longer time to first maintenance. Zinc and the polyester resin from the powder provide a synergistic protective effect. The polyester topcoat protects the zinc and the zinc protects the steel beneath it. The American Galvanizers Association (AGA) and Society of Protective Coatings (SSPC) tell us that this duplex process potentially increases the service life of the part by as much as two and one-half times the life of the part with either coating alone.

Powder coated galvanized steel helps builders avoid painting costs, since the “painting” is done at the galvanizing facility.”

You paint the galvanised steel afterwards, dafty. 😉 We just skipped that, as it cost more.

Why didn't we just get normal un galvanised steel if we wanted to do it cheap?
