County Cricket 2024

Everyone agrees except Rob Key who thought the cricket wirh the kookaburra ball was brilliant.

Another great round of games with only one draw and some great open games.
I do think it absolutely great when you see positive cricket and teams going for wins above draws it makes for brilliant entertaining cricket.

I do think the influence of the test side playing the way they do has had some influence on the way county sides approach the game more positively.

And long may it continue positive result chasing games in red ball cricket is cracking for the game

Was a really bad call

I agree.
Might have been better off just running without trying to hit it

Think it was hitting the stumps.
One assumes that would have been a world record first class chase?

It would’ve been 👍
8 points apiece for the tie plus bonus points.Seems unbalanced considering you get the same for a boring stalemate draw 🤔

Yeah, nonsense really. The commentators were saying that a wicket or a dot ball made no difference whatsoever to Gloucestershire in terms of points.

It was really, that’s my point, result cricket like that is shite to watch, too much of a lottery, I’d have said the same if we’d won.
Yeh,I'm sure those Worcs supporters travelling home with their 1st CC win of the season were thinking that last day's batting was sh!te.
Agree the pitch was difficult but Kashif Ali proved that with a sound technique you could survive on it.

Worcestershire fans who travelled up were an absolute credit to their team & were over the moon at the end. Their coach was posing for group photos with them, excellent to see. They're a really good club

And that’s why we love the county championship. The match going down to the last over with 4 possible results after 4 days of cricket. Bonus points for it being at Cheltenham as well!

I recognise the point about batting being a lottery and it was abetted by some atrocious umpiring decisions which we appeared to suffer most from. However some of our batting didn't adapt to the conditions. The Bazball/Campbell approach isn't suitable to those testing conditions.
Nor did we help ourselves with some irresponsible bowling after lunch when at 87-3 the game was in the balance.
Don't get bitter- get better- to quote a legend.

I’m not getting bitter about this game, I’m not that bothered. Just in general I don’t like result pitches and pitches or conditions should I say that favor high 70 bowlers who don’t have to do much with the ball

Seen some great wins at Durham last few years over 4 days where you have to work so hard to get 20 wickets. That’s more like test cricket

Ones like this week, and against somerset where we won, aren’t as enjoyable to me.

As I say admit cloud cover and so forth could have well played a role in this game

They've had a really tough year as well with injuries, the death of a player and problems with flooding so if anyone deserves something to celebrate then its them
