Greek Island Holiday Help

Where you staying

is that Naxos or Chania?

Naxos - we got an apartment in Chora for a good price, very good location. Beaches amazing with not a huge amount of tourists in June. Mainly Greek and a few Americans doing island hopping. Very reasonable prices for food and drink. Can get ferry from Athens in 3 hours - or it has an airport.

Never been to Kos. I know they get fantastic sunsets looking out over Kalymnos can anyone recommend a hotel with sunset views please ?

Nice cheers mate 👍

Next to Paros which I've always fancied.

I've been to quite a few Greek Islands and been to Crete a few times. For the past few years I went to a place called Maleme which is west of Chania and it was quite nice but a bit quiet and the beach isn't all that. Good base to be to explore the west of the Island in a car though.
Last August I went to Malia for the first time and was dreading it a bit but we were outside the strip and it was actually lovely. Old Malia is very picturesque and there are plenty of restaurants etc. without having to go to the strip - although the strip was quite fun to walk down....
This year we're going back and staying in the gloriously named Vergina Appartments! 😁

We have stayed at Irina beach in Tingaki before. It’s pretty decent and points in the right direction. It’s a bit off the beaten track for bars and restaurants though

They have a Vergina hotel in Halkidiki as well. Would love to throw open the curtains every morning spending a week there. Also had the Vergina beer in the restaurants and bars there. Surprisingly didn't taste of John West.

Went to Argassi in Zante last year (first time ever in Greece) and loved it. Nice little resort and Laganas a ten euro taxi if you want somewhere bigger (we never bothered). We're off to Zante again next week but staying in Alykes further up the coast. Greek mainland is a short ferry ride from Zante Town if you fancy that.
Just booked Alykes for 2 weeks time looks like a toppa little place.

We enjoyed it. Only minus point for us was there wasn't anywhere that really stood out for dining out. Iris bar is great for watching sport. Enigma bar (I think) did this alcoholic chocolate milkshake which was tremendous. Got absolutely shit faced on them one night.

Mudslide? They are lovely, I’ve just been having a look google for places to eat as we are self catering.

Wasn't a mudslide, didn't have coffee in it. Vodka, Baileys and chocolate milk iirc. All the restaurants bar one were Greek selling the same standard menu. There's an Indian/Chinese place and the Indian food was decent. We never had the Chinese stuff but people in our hotel did and said it was crap.

Dunno if you are bit active/hyper but I am. Did a walk up to the monastery of Ioannis Prodromos via Katastari (gentle climb) and the Agios Nikolaos church in Meso Gerakari (you can see it for miles around on top of a big hill, tough 13k tbf).

Will have to try one of those, thanks for the advice.

Sounds lovely but I’m waiting on a new hip and will be with my Mam and my little lad. So might swerve that 😂

We went to Hotel Belvedere on a tui all inclusive adults only package last year. about a 15 min bus ride from Kardemenia. Beautiful sea views and night sky with next to none light pollution. Fantastic.
Gorgeous sunsets in Bali, Crete earlier this year on a cheap last minute deal in mid may. Hotel Ormos Atalia. Ended up with the best room in the whole place. Three balconies for panoramic views. Used to get up early just to watch the sunrise. Not great for food but plenty of cheap restaurants if you're okay getting up and down steep banks.
