Some just moan for the sake of moaning but some have a valid point and that's the point that even the SAOT isn't accurate to the mm. There is no need to change the law but there is a need (in my opinion) that they give all the margin of error to the attacker to remove all doubt that he may have actually still been 1mm onside. By doing this then it will get rid of the uproar when offsides are called like they were yesterday.
I've even seen on that was shirt sleeve stitch away as it was in the World Cup 2022 when Croatia played Belgium and there was a penna given to Croatia but then ruled out for the offside (video link below). This is the image and it's the Croatian who is offside! It's probably the closest I've seen so far as you'd think it was the Belgium player who was offside, not the Croatian!

Another more recent one was Belgium again with Lukaku when they played Romania as it was the
head, shoulder, knee and toe offside by a small margin.
The margin of error is larger with the manual VAR and it still exists with the SAOT, albeit smaller but it's still there so it could well be that Lukaku could have been onside. They could simply make the white line (white wall) thicker like the manual VAR and give the advantage to the attacker, even if it's 10cm again to eliminate all doubt about offside being given incorrectly.
Something will happen when more of these decisions occur, just like it did when VAR first came in with the very thin lines but the fan uproar caused them to review it and mentioned in the link below. They made the lines thicker 3 seasons ago and also changed the rule regarding how the lines are compared against each other. Originally they could overlap and the furthest forward point was used but then it was changed so that if the players lines overlapped it was onside and offside if there was gap, hence the 10cm advantage.
