CC : Essex v Durham

Don’t think Parkinson looks very threatening this morning. Hope I’m wrong but I’d get Siddle on from his end now, not a lot of turn / bounce for him to work with

Slow going this morning, probably only get 29 overs in the session - which considering we’re chasing wickets seems odd. With a turning pitch and the potential for spin at both ends you’d think we’d want to try and pinch a few extra overs later on should they be needed.

Said yesterday in these type of fourth innings , you get a period where a partnership looks unbreakable , something happens and numerous wickets follow

Patience required today as I don’t think they will go for the win

Considering they have been top two for years and Durham newly promoted , even the draw I feel is a great result from Durham

We’ve pretty much dominated all the play so far

Raine not bowled many overs today.

Also anyone know what happened earlier when someone shouted and stopped raine during his run up?

Neither has Siddle.

Apparently someone in the crowd shouted ‘NO BALL’ as Raine was running in because the Durham fielders were doing a slow hand clap.

This is so dull 😂

It is, but I can’t really find much fault with our bowling performance. I feel like all the spinners looked competent enough and Westley has never really looked comfortable at the crease. I appreciate a lot of that sounds absolutely ridiculous to say, but he’s been very jumpy and has edged and mistimed quite a lot. It’s just never gone near to hand.

I think the only criticism would be the lack of sightings for Siddle and de Leede. I think the captain (and possibly coaching staff) have made the decision to keep them fresh for Sunday.

Spinners: competent yes, threatening absolutely not. I‘m more disappointed with Essex’s approach. 4 an over at start of the day and haven’t showed 1 bit of intent to try and win and has created this snoozefest
