Sounds riveting. Pass the ball about around the back for a bit and then hoof it upfield. Seems suspiciously like Dodds ball to me.

There's a video of a very good goal knocking about. I think it may best to just wait and see though before deciding what his tactics look like.

Did he do that because it suited Lorient players? Or he is another one trick pony?
I have seen that he is supposed to be tactical astute so it is unfair to think he will be exactly the same here.

Watched some clips on the tube of u and its slow and looks like poyet ball ..if you've got the ball they cannot score ,which is true but it aint entertainment that's fo sure!I think la bris might need to adapt a bit to the speed and physicality of the championship and we wont see if he can do that until the start of the season !

From limited clips I've seen he played differently in each of the seasons. Before Ouattara was loaned out to Bournemouth, they looked similar to us in the first Championship season - rapid counterattacks with intricate passing (see us v Reading away).

The switch to what was described by the Chronicle seems to have come after last summer's sales. In other words, doing the best with what he had left.

I suspect we won't really see what he wants to do here until after the training camp in Spain.

We won't see what he really wants until the end of the window, everything could change on a sale or a purchase

Imo people need to stop second guessing and just wait and see.

Or until the end of the transfer window.

There’s so much business concluded in the final days (hours) of each window that we won’t know the make up of the squad until then.

It’s only really from this point that the head coach can say he knows the make up of his squad and can then determine his best side and the system that suits them.
 
It could easily be a horses for courses approach, we just don't know how he is going to use our squad, maybe he sees our strengths differently than Lorient's?

The earlier mention of Moyes is a decent example, compare his reputation with SAFC fans to Allardyce's. Then find out which one a West Ham fan prefers, it's gonna be the complete opposite.

They tended to be happy to cede possession , his philosophy is very different from Poyet's. The playing around with it deep isn't about just maintaining possession for possessions sake, it's about trying to draw the press then attempting to play through it and attacking quickly from there - not slow intricate build up.

I do wonder how that will translate here against all the teams that come up to SoL content just to sit in.

Haven't checked but his time at QPR and then at Rangers could be similar, but not sure.

Still think it's fair to be sceptical about Le Bris experience at the top level, and not be piled on for having that view. Back him and the club obviously, but I think it's fine to have reservations.

I remember being excited about Moyes and O neill never been as bored watching us with them two
Neil and Mowbray were as meh as it gets look how that turned out
 
Is it right that he tried to leave Lorient a few times in the summer including right at the end of the summer '23 window? Could it be that his heart simply wasn't in it in the second season?

If so it may explain a bit, could be both reassuring and concerning in equal measure I guess.
