Regis le Bris - confirmed

Hence why it's taken so long . He was about to be sacked at lorient so had nothing to lose taking this on on his own .
That's why loads fell by the wayside as they had to come on their own
Your own thread AND posting on this one? Going to look doubly daft when the reported restructuring is announced.

Ah got ya now.

I think 15 is a decent enough sample size. Both positively and negatively. There was loads on here wanted Dodds permanently after 2 wins yet the rest of the season showed a better reflection of his abilities.
2 wins do not make a good long-term head coach/manager, if that were the case, the reason for the rule's existence would still be our manager, 2 wins in 20 games 😭

unfortunately most articles on his tactics and style of play is based on his first 3 months where he won 8 of 12 and only lost 1. I wish there was more articles about longer term as well for a more detailed understanding of how he works and what maybe went wrong/different for the next 12 to 18 months

We can only go on what's available, unfortunately.

I'm getting Alex Neil vibes more than Tony Mowbray. I can see our fans happy with us transitioning and breaking quickly, but less happy sitting off in a mid or low block when we don't have the ball.

Just read a really long interview with him from his Lorient days, speaks well and sounds very methodical. Not a fan of overuse of data and xG though.

I'm very wary of expected goals because they miss so many things. With xG, there has to be a shot. If there isn't, the danger isn't measured. A great cross along the goal line that nobody touches, it's a super-dangerous situation, but it's worth 0.00. Conversely, a shot from a very tight angle, where the goalkeeper is in total control, generates danger according to the data. I use stats, but they don't tell the whole story about player commitment. For example, if a goalkeeper outperforms, it's above all because he's very good. The same goes for a striker who's going to be very successful because he's very good.

Ha, he says similar things to me about xG and I've had some stick on here for it.

Good God there are a lot of idiots on here!!! OK, he was relegated last season, but try to have the brains to look beyond the surface.

Before the 23/24 season, the most talented players were sold and with a boardroom in turmoil, there was little budget to buy decent replacements. Even with those setbacks, he was only relegated by the narrowest of narrow margins. In the previous season he managed to get the club to 10th with a young and unfancied side. This was by far their best finish and far higher than anyone expected. On the strength of that season he was in line for one of the top jobs in French football but compensation was a problem. Before all this help enjoyed great success managing younger sides and has a good record of youth development. The chances are that had it not been for the relegation, he would be a Head Coach out of our reach.

OK, I'm not saying he would have been my first, second, or even third choice, but the point is that this appointment is a bit more nuanced than it appears at first sight. I think he's a gamble, but possibly a calculated gamble. It would also have been easier and safer to stick to the usual Championship merry-go-round, but instead KLD has chosen to be a bit more ambitious. Fans also complained that the model needed to be more flexible to allow a new Head Coach to bring in his own people, and now we're learning that's exactly what's happening.

I realise this is a gamble, but I like the fact they're going for it rather than playing safe. I like the fact that they're adjusting the model to learn the lessons from last season. Our new Head Coach deserves a fair chance and he will get my full support.
He was likely our boards 10th choice. That’s how desperate they were!
