The bit I’d dispute is you saying people hope he fails so they can prove a point. I totally disagree with that mind!! When people are wrong and things go well you tend to find people hold their hands up. In reverse it doesn’t happen.

Look at the last 10 pages, sarcastic comment after sarcastic comment giving people grief who’ve called the club out for shit. We appoint someone and they are tripping over themselves to have a go. The same was done in an august last year after the transfer window and a lot had egg on their faces.

It’s been a vile 6+ months supporting this club, and plenty posters pointed out it was coming and got abuse for saying that. When they were right and tried to give it back you’ve had the martyrs for months coming out with shite like “enjoy your party” “nobody said it was great” “well done for being right” basically being children rather than hold there hands up.

Now because we’ve made an appointment the same posters are coming out in numbers to do exactly what they claim is wrong to do when the shoes on the other foot. It’s pathetic pal.

Not sure on what others are trying to do mate, I’m just making the point that a united front is the best thing at the moment. We know how bad the last 6 months have been and we know the reasons why. I’m not trying to have a go, I’m just saying that I really think that hanging on to what’s gone and being overly negative / criticising everything the club does, in pre season, after appointing a new head coach isn’t helping anyone. There are definitely some posters on here who don’t want this to work out so Speakman or KLD can go. I agree with most of your post as well mate.
 
No nowt about the bloke whatsoever. Big uptick in win rate in 22/23 followed by relegation seems odd. Would even hazard a guess at circumstances beyond his control..who knows. A strange appointment but like most will give him a chance. For KLD and speakman I think it has to work….otherwise they’ve blown it.

Experience of working and developing young players is all well and good. But his job is to get 3 points on a Saturday afternoon. He hasn't much success or experience at doing that.

And yes a lot of managers have suffered relegation. But this guy has been relegated in one of his two seasons. So when assessing his record, naturally it holds more weight.

I don't get that. Sunderland supporters want Sunderland to do well, why would they want him to fail ? I want nothing more than KLD to go, but I'd much rather we were at the top of the league than the bottom.

Sounds like he likes to play the type of football most the fans would want to watch. Two years experience as head coach in the top French league puts him on par with Still and ahead of Maric maybe. If he's bringing a bus load of staff witb him it will hopefully at least give him a chance. The club backing him with a balanced squad and some goal scorers is the next step.
