Durham Seconds at Burnopfield v Yorkshire

thewearsider

Midfield
With the complete dearth of any 4 day cricket it was good to see a rare three day second team game on in Durham this week.
However we turned up yesterday in glorious sunshine where there was somehow no cricket until 140. No early lunch taken, outfield perfect, about 40 players and coaches doing warm ups for around 90 mins on the pitch, groundsman happy to go ... but umpires not.
Drove through today, expected a delay , yes, but apparently game abandoned for the day, and apparently already cancelled tommorow as well so gane over.
Yet another example of the death of longer form cricket, no doubt in favour of more training sessions. These kids need cricket ... and so do us members.

After the deluge last night I already had written off today but I agree 100% with your comments about the farce yesterday. I was talking to one of the young lads from Yorkshire in the morning and he couldn't believe they didn't take,at the very least, an early lunch.

I’d finished my packed lunch by 11:30 am . 4 corned beef and tomato sarnies. 2 bags of crisps and a bottle of Irn Bru . Copied it from Carty’s Website of Sporing Bait 👍
