I vary but Skiathos I just used jet2
Was easy as anything
Was there with the Mrs so was a civilised break. Spent every night in the old town which is a must and also right on the marina. It was just nice being surrounded by all that history taking in the vibe looking for different places to eat and drink.I’m in ixia just down road from Rhodes town in September, any recommendations? Last time we were there me and @Daffy got beat up by the locals![]()
Already booked for Kassiopi next year
I'll have a ganderLooked on jet 2 a few times, self catering in Skiathos Town, 2 studios. Same story in other Greek places I like the look of. Odd one I find that is an apartment is up a whopping great hill or flies at unearthly hours. We're too fussy![]()

When we go again next year we intend on mixing it up with nights in the new town, fancy hiring a beach buggy and going further afield.
I'll have a gander
It’s great. Where are you staying ?We’re going to Agia Marina for the first time this year
We went there on a day trip from Zante.Only ever been to Kefalonia and that was beautiful. Captain Corellis mandolin was filmed there. Little fact for you![]()
I could see Zante from my balcony. We're thinking about a week away in September. A Greek Island is a possibility. It’s great. Where are you staying ?

Have always wanted to go back but haven’t got around to it - yet !
I’d recommend Western Crete.I could see Zante from my balcony. We're thinking about a week away in September. A Greek Island is a possibility.
Plus one for this. I lived in Zakynthos for 2 summers when I was younger. Tsillivi is incredible.Tsillivi in Zante is exceptional
Look up Alykes in zakynthosOh wise SMB, we have decided, heatwave and dead TV presenters notwithstanding, that we will be going to visit a Greek island this Summer, but having never been before we have no real idea as to where to go.
The main criteria are that it has to be picturesque, near the water and have plenty of decent tavernas / restaurants where we can sit preferably by a lovely harbour or somesuch and relax with nice local seafood etc. But no thumping house beats from local bars, no cheesy cafes advertising a full bloody english for 5 euros, don't want it to be too built up, and so on. Think Malcesine on Lake Garda but shifted to Greece. Any ideas based on good experiences, anyone?
Enjoyed a night in Kardamena last year. Got a last minute cheapy to Bali in Crete at the end of May which was nice. Old fishing port so plenty of seafood taverna's. Stayed near Evita beach. It's a bit of a trek from Chania and no good if you don't like hills or stairs but at the end of May it was ideal for a quiet week of r&r. The cheap wine and free Raki helped somewhat.Kardamena was lovely when I went a few years ago
6 of us going on Friday for the weekend. None of us been before, staying in Georgioupoli. Doesn’t seem much there so thinking of sat evening going in Chania for a night out.Check out Chania on Crete. It's a brilliant town with many resorts within 20 minutes of it.
You can fly from Newcastle with Ryanair or Jet2.
We've been to Agia Marina virtually every year since 2008 and love it.
