Martí Cifuentes

If the money isn't there for him move on. But it really shouldn't be an issue for a club that pulls in the crowds we do, and whose owners (laughably) claim to be ambitious, to pay the suggested compensation.
Even with our more conservative ownership, I refuse to believe less than £1m compensation would put them off. We spent more than double on Leo Hjelde.

I think the bigger issue will be convincing Cifuentes our job is better than his at QPR.

I think it was Speakman that said they’d be prepared to pay compensation for the right man….if Cifuentes is that man what’s the delay?

A cynic would say that as they’ve not employed a manager in work yet the clear pattern is there for all to see. Like the reluctance to pay the fee for a proven striker it suggests the model is all about doing things as cheaply as possible
Of course it is. And those that run the club say a lot of things that they think our support would like to hear but rarely back those words up. Just a bunch of bluffers.

Well I don't for one second think we spent 2 million on hjelde. A few hundred thousand max. A lot of the quoted fees for our signings are clearly inflated.

But yes, I also thinking convincing him coming to us will be an improvement on qpr will not be easy.

They must have had encouragement from him or his representatives to be discussing compensation etc. Amount wasted on shite players, you'd think under 1m wouldn't be such an issue.

I always find the reluctance of all clubs, not just us, to pay compensation for the manager/head coach they want ridiculous. The right man in the dugout is more important than any player on the pitch so why baulk at a couple of million providing a club has got it? Leeds not coughing up what was asked to prise Corberan from WBA is a perfect example.

I fully agree with you, but I guess it's cos managers are usually sacked rather than bought. They usually have to be paid to leave.

There is no way we paid 2mill for Hjelde. That will include all bonuses such as golden boot winner and winning the champions league. Probably paid 250k for him.
