Frank Lampard - manager rumours

Surely you all know it will come down to heckingbottom and when he ferks us off dodds will be leading us into pre season. They have wanted dodds from day 1.
That would be incredible if he’s appointed, he failed his audition miserably, 16 games of some of the worst football I’ve seen, you could of dragged anyone out of the stands and they would of done better, yet a bloke who’s been there 3 years and should know every players strengths and weaknesses couldn’t set up a team competently week after week

Be a half empty stadium and the most abuse online ever seen if they appoint Dodds. I doubt they will do it but I do think Heckingbottom is a possibility.

Don’t think he would come tbh.

There is also that. He’s been at clubs like Chelsea and West Ham United. This would be regarded as a step down for him. He’s been in too many big circles and been around too many big people to even consider us. But if we offer him a package big enough then he could consider us.

Avoided this thread as didn't want to entertain the idea

Then I got thinking, maybe we're not a big risk for him

Probably already said, but...

He doesn't get to sign players, so he won't get the blame

He will have a coaching set up, but Mike Dodds isn't going to challenge him much, especially if he brings one of his mates in as assistant

And when it goes tits up, everyone just says SunderlandBasketCase, or there they go again hounding a manager out but this time a playing legend

And really, expectation is on the floor, no matter what people elsewhere say about big club-big fanbase-big expectations

Should he achieve midtable, job done

As long as he's happy with a salary equivalent to pocket money

Heckingbottom has made it plain to his friends that there is no way he wants it under the present set up. He wants his own people around him. That's a genuine piece of gossip.

He said pretty much that word for word when working as a pundit on Sky near the end of the season that’s just ended.

Mowbray got the blame to cover up for poor recruitment
