Frank Lampard - manager rumours

- His stature and profile in the game, he'll have players respect immediately.
- Lifts the profile of the club.
- Players will want to play for him, either those here or potential new players.
- He won't be phased at all by size of club and expectations.
- Not a chance he's accepting the job without assurances from owner.
- Got Derby into the play off final.
- Winning mentality and will be a huge influence on likes of Neil and Rigg.
- A club like ours, needs someone with a bit about them. Far too many get eaten alive by it and he's been there, done it and then some, where he'll embrace all that.

Only reasons I'm seeing people say no, is because he struggled at Everton, like many have and because of who he votes for.

Any realistic target will split opinion. I'd rather Cifuentes, but can also see why this could be decent.

Better managers than Lampard failed at Everton like you say, im behind the appointment if its made
I believe even his first spell at Chelsea he wasn’t on speaking terms with some of the players when he left, so his man management is not the best

How do you know that?

Absolutely laughable

He’s useless like. What’s he done anywhere apart from lose games hand over fist,?
Got Derby County to the Championship Play Off Final. Got Chelsea into the Champions League.

Had awful spells at Everton (who hasn't recently?) and again at Chelsea (at the end of an unsuccessful season when they'd probably about given up on the season anyway).

Don't get me wrong, I'd have been very underwhelmed with Lampard a month ago. But the longer this debacle goes on the more desperate I get and at this point I think I'd be relieved!

I guess. He should've took Derby up with the squad they had I think mind. I wouldn't want him, there's surely got to be better.

Without being a massive Lampard fan I do think this does involve a lot revisionism and people speaking in hindsight. It's been used as a stick to beat him for years. Appears to be mostly based around Mason Mount and Tomori when neither were exactly well known at the time. Their top scorer that season was Martyn Waghorn and Richard Keogh was captain, doesn't exactly scream promotion.

Norwich won the league with the likes of Pukki and Buendia in the team, Sheff United finished second with a team that was barely improved upon and finished 9th in the Prem the year after. Bielsa's Leeds finished third, Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez got the best part of 50 goals between them for West Brom, Villa finished 5th that year and had Tyrone Mings at the back, John McGinn in midfield, Tammy Abraham up front and Jack Grealish as captain who already started looking like a Premier League player the year before when we were in the league.

Robbie Keane situation is a funny one tho, I'd imagine will be a few clubs after him now here and on the continent and how many times did he turn us down as a player
