I wasn't arguing that though, just that it may not be the only factor. I'm aware of how they generally work. Bookies have absolutely "heard things" in the past and closed a market or significantly shortened odds based on that information. The other significant shortenings you're talking about happened over a much longer period of time.
Still never went from 8/1 to 1/3 in the space of a few hours and there were a lot of rumours about him and how he was a genuine target.

He did ok at Derby and his first spell at Chelsea though. Even Ancelotti didn't pull up any trees at your place.

That would work, if his odds hadn't dropped significantly before it went viral. There have been plenty of silly rumours like the one we saw this morning, with screenshots etc, that haven't caused the odds to drop much, if at all.
I'm just struggling to see how he went from 6-8/1 to pretty much evens when it was only being discussed on this forum at the time. Therfore, it sounds more likely to be your b) example.

If it was being discussed in the forum then thats why it was dropping then. People will have heard by then.
I had the odds open and the page said 7. I saw all the posts about and it had dropped to 1.5 in that time.
