Didn’t they have a bust up? I’m not sure if Halford would be the best person to give an opinion of Keane tbh. We all know Keane doesn’t take shit.Just been listening to the Under the cosh interview with Greg Halford today Keane wasn’t all sunshine and roses. There’s a reason he hasn’t managed since 2011.
I’d rather Lampard than Parker as he did well with mainly loans as opposed to Parker who had money at both Fulham and Bournemouth as well as players just relegated from the Premier LeagueWe really wouldn't be like. I'd take Parker here as well. He'd want far more than what we'd pay though despite not a very successful spell in Belgium.
Same. I’m sure he’s learnt a lot in his time.I'd have him here
Guardiola regards Cruyff as his biggest influence whose pomp as a player was when he was about 3 or 4. He started off in Barcelona’s C team as 17 year-old the year Cruyff joined as first team manager. So, I highly doubt Luis Semedo, Ba, Pembele, Aouchiche, Mayenda, Seelt, Bennette and a number of others have any real idea of who he is- and the rest of the team are unlikely to have the same image of him as a probably world class centre-half cerca 2006-2011. Which is the more important point- in comparison to Keane who had only left Man Utd about 18 months before- and had been one of the world's best midfielders about 3 years earlier.
I might be wrong, and Hemir might have grown up with a John Terry poster on his bedroom wall. But I think it's particularly unlikely.
I think the argument that John Terry, would be a good manager because he would overawe the team- is very very unlikely.
I'm sure O'Nien would be buzzing of course
A bloke who got to the play off final in his only season in this league? What a nightmare
Which was mainly built-up under McLaren. Lampard’s tenure was mainly assisted by the loans that seasonCompletely different context.
As frustrating as it is, Sunderland are trying to run with financial prudence with a focus on young value for money players.
On the other hand, Derby spent recklessly, gambled everything on promotion and lost big time. Lampard's wage bill in 2019 (one of the highest in the league at the time) was more than double that reported in Sunderland's last accounts for 2023. Derby had a loss of £36m for the year which is nearly 5x more than our last reported losses. That season and the previous 3, Derby spent 3x as much on transfers than us.
So, if Lampard had one of the most expensive squads in the league and cant get them promoted then what is he going to do with a team with a much smaller wage bill and transfer budget?
He's not the sort of coach we need at all and his time at Derby was a failure not a success given the resources at his disposal.
He hasn't had say on team selection anywayWhoever we get as HC, will have the same problems as his predecessors, unless we bring in some much needed quality & experience in key areas of the playing side.
Also, Speakshite must have no say on team selection, and the new HC has to be able to bring in his own backroom team, who's ideas he respects & who's judgement he trusts.
Doubt it...he'd want paying. We're looking for a manager on a YTS.Not itk just a horrible sense.
He spent about £12m on transfers I believe that season although sold Vydra for about the same. Regardless, he inherited a squad that was very expensive with some big names and a very high wage bill and still failed.Which was mainly built-up under McLaren. Isn’t that what we spent on transfers last season to go from play off semi finalists to 16th?He spent about £12m on transfers I believe that season although sold Vydra for about the same. Derby were able to attract some big players around that time which we cant. Maybe Lampard could get some young talent with his connections. However, since he couldnt succeed at Derby with greater resources at his disposal, Ive no reason to believe he can do better at a club who have far less.
Yeah about £10m which we spent badly.Isn’t that what we spent on transfers last season to go from play off semi finalists to 16th?
Sorry forgot to call him Speaksy. My error.Haven’t read the 339 posts but imagine being one of England’s greatest midfielders and then having Speakman telling you that Jobesy has to play every minute in the area you excelled in. Then imagine…….in fact don’t imagine.

These lads would have been in academies when Chelsea were winning European cups and Premier Leagues. They weren’t in some Amazonian village untouched by outsiders.
