MATCH THREAD: Durham v Leicester Foxes 🦊

Had Raine, Robinson, Potts, Coughlin batted sensibly like Clark did we would have won the game. It didn't need anyone to go bezerk needing 7 and over at the start. Too many cheap wickets and it's inexcusable time & time again. It's most definitely a mentality thing at home. I said during the game some of our bowling choices were bizarre and I stand by that also
You could tell during the innings break that Leicestershire thought they where well in the game with only 140 on the board.

100% it was a difficult pitch to bat on. I was puzzled with some of our bowling selections and I'm standing by that view. Why did Turner not bowl when the slow bowlers did well? Batting wise too many cheap wickets. Coughlin for example thinking he's Botham trying to smash it when he didn't need to. Raine giving his wicket away last ball of the over when the runs were done with for that over. Potts again cheap. We didn't need to smash it about.

We've never got the hang of slow bowling being more effective in one day cricket. Despite the likes of benky, borthwick, collingwood being more effective for us than pur quicks. Even the 'slower' seamers like bunny and rushy would get dropped whilst our genuine quicks played

Poor batting under pressure by our lower middle order they are expeirenced to know that hitting the ball over the top wasn't the way to go especially with a recognised batsman still in.
Probably my last t20 game i go to for this year but more than the result the people who make the decisions at Durham have to start making t20 matches more about entertainment and getting the crowd involved its supposed to be fun.

We ended up batting like headless chickens. 26-5 off the last 4.3 overs is completely unacceptable.

What do you suggest they do?

Looked a tough pitch to bat on but with 24 needed from the last 3, plenty of wickets left and a batsman who was pretty well set we should have won that. Really disappointing from the likes of Raine, Coughlin and Potts.

And I'm still cold now.
Had to run a bath. Got to be up for graft at 0545 and cannot sleep

Trouble is mate we do it time and again in white ball cricket struggling to think of other teams who panic as much as we do under a little bit of pressure.

24 off 3 overs to go with wickets in hand even on a tricky pitch we should of won. Clarks innings heaped pressure on the other end I can’t believe he never came out of his crease or moved across to the wide Yorker ploy!

Very poor but I'm not going to blame Clarky for that as he's batted well here. The others need to take a long look at themselves as that was pathetic.

Whilst I’m not blaming him, the job of ‘the others’ was made all the more difficult when he effectively took half our overs to score at a rate which was over a full run per over lower that what we needed for victory.
The others before that were pathetic.

Ha’way, I know you’re very favourable towards him, but he batted our entire innings at less than a run a ball when we needed 7 an over. If you’re going to bat the entirety of a run chase in this format you absolutely have to see the team over the line.
👏👏

I also thought the commentary was really poor too

Felt like a funeral at times

I really don’t know why they don’t just have Marty do it. He’s a genuine, professional commentator who has been doing it for years and is always very well prepared and researched. Nobody can tell me the club wouldn’t be better served financially in paying him and whichever BBC counterpart has travelled as opposed to the conveyor belt of novices that we had to endure tonight. Adore Harmy, Badger, Breesey and Thorp for their efforts as players as even pundits, but commentating and punditry are two very different things.

Which is all that he needed to do. He's not to blame for the piss poor shot selections by Potts/Raine/Coughlin/Robinson for example. Tonight wasn't a night to go bezerk. Graham Clark wasn't the reason we lost the game tonight. Our bowling selections were questionable and the failures by some with the bat yet again were utterly embarrassing. We needed 24 off 18 and Coughlin decided that he's suddenly Ian Botham trying to smash it out the ground like an absolute fanny, that isn't Graham Clark's fault. Ben Raine throwing his wicket away on the last ball of the over after we scored well, isn't the fault of Graham Clark.

He pissed people off inside the club... allegedly
