Forthcoming gigs.

Just in the airport on the way home from primavera Porto. Mixed bag this year. Justices lighting rig broke the second stage so the whole line up for that was cancelled on the second day. Apart from that I saw

Pulp (absolutely outstanding!)
The national (dependable as always)
Lana del Rey (dull as dishwater)
The last dinner party (excellent, their front woman is superb)
Pj Harvey (legendary!)
Mandy Indiana (bonkers)
Sza (bit disappointing)
Mitski ( don’t get it)

Good few late withdrawals too which was annoying. Ethel cain and lankum both pulled out on the day.

It’s a great festival though. So chilled out, apart from the cult of Lana fans!
Id absolutely love to see pulp live! Did they play “I spy”

I'm no big fan
I really enjoyed the long long documentary about them .It changed my thoughts on them . They're in Fleetwood mac land . Immaculate songs .If a gigs exactly like the record what's not to like yet it doesn't appeal to me .
I was at Tool along the road
It took me a long time to really give in to be honest. I think I just grew up and start appreciating them for what they are.

Whilst they've never really had a great album, their back catalogue of hits is exceptional. Their Very Best of is one of the best Best of albums ever. They started with Take It Easy the other night. There's not many bands could open a set with a song of that magnitude, and follow it up with hit after hit for the next 2 hours.

I agree about these albums.Superb.That"ll be a cracking gig fella,have a gud'n.
Beth Gibbons and her band were fantastic. Played everything off the new album, a couple off 'Out Of Season' and one Portishead song (Roads). Was just over a bit too quick. Her set was 65-70 minutes but I knew to expect that. Bill Ryder Jones' set was short too at 30 minutes (5 songs). A woman in the audience keeled over as he was finishing one song, so there was unscheduled break while she was helped up. He resumed with This Can't Go On (the only song he played off Iechyd Da). Enjoyed it, but he was only accompanied by a cellist so will be good to see him with a full band at the Glasshouse later in the year when he tours with Gruff Rhys.

Beth sounds superb.Thats a shame about Bill. When I went to see him down Liverpool earlier in the year,he had a full band.He had the cellist one side of him, and a brilliant slide guitar player the other side of him(a fella next to me said it was john powers son). They were brilliant.Sure I have heard an interview with him where he says he isn't comfortable playing live.I got tickets for Bill and gruff n'all. Cannot wait( hope they do something together).

Past gig now I suppose, but I saw Chewie on Sunday and they were fantastic, really riotous in parts, really emotional in others. "Fuck Team Sports" remains one of my favourite songs to see live.

Got Guilfest in a couple weeks and just booked tickets for me and my wife to see The Skints in October, which will be excellent.

Saw them at Leeds festival around 2000
Wasn't a fan but Jarvis impressed me
Had the masses in the palm of his hand
Talking to us like you would in a queue in the post office
I saw them at Glastonbury 94, just before they hit really big, and likewise, he really impressed me.A great front man. He even jumped in the crowd afterwards and started dishing out jelly babies to everyone, and conversing intently with people.Seemes a nice bloke

Saw Pulp last year. I really wanted to go but the bairn wasn't that fussed. She got totally hooked and is desperate to go and see them again now 😁

Jarvis is one of a kind like. Chatting on like a one on one conversation to the whole crowd. He was throwing Curly Wurlys to people. I love him to bits.

Going to see The Fat White Family at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle, this Saturday.
Anyone seen them already on this tour ?
Any good ?
