Will Still - Lens Manager

So would I mate, but just this idea that it must be total incompetence that every person linked hasn’t worked out is crazy. Will Still for example sounds like a bit of a cock. I am perfectly sure that we wouldn’t pay what some might want but there’s no way every manager is rocking up and leaving because of what they’re presented with. I don’t for a second think the club are forcing every candidate into a cul de sac of working with their hands tied.

Could be as simple as the club knowing this appointment has to be the right one, so taking their time. Candidates also are in a particular group….young well respected coaches who will be stepping into their first high profile job. If it goes badly then that’s years of building your rep in the bin. I’m sure they want to make sure it’s the best fit also.

I think it’s fairly obvious some of our ‘terms’ are not working but the same can be said everywhere. They need to reflect on it though because they are clearly missing out on some they think are achievable.

Thats one way of looking at the world I prefer to look at what people do and not what they say will do and im a firm believer in the old albert tatlock saying "past is prologue" You look at past behaviour and use that info to guide your assessment! In truth its not infallible but but what in life is !.... I like a good idiom to use as shorthand and under kld its clear that they are using in most things the "cheapest we can get away with "rather than the "best we can afford" approach and if you apply that dictum to all they do you wont go far wrong!
Being honest with all of you, I think any manager whether reputable, unknown, experienced or never managed a game is a total gamble. Even at the top clubs they go and hunt out managers that are ‘proven’ and it still more often than not doesn’t work out. Klopp and Guardiola were proven and came in and lived up to it and have done enough to keep their job year on year. In the same time we’ve seen Van Gaal, Pochettino, Sarri, Lampard, Tuchel, Ancelotti, Conte, Ten Hag so on and so forth come in with big reputations and all lost their jobs eventually. I think the decision makers can of course have a shortlist and have their favorite candidate but it is still a gamble. There are so many factors as to whether a manager works out (support, momentum, injuries, players signing or not signing) that just can’t be thought of when a manager is chosen.

Yes KLD, Speakman need this next appointment to work out but I think however calculated people think this formula may be it’s still a huge gamble. That’s why I’ve been relaxed with every name mentioned because whether it was Still, Jansen, Rosenior or someone we don’t know all we can do is get behind them and hope that they get off to a good start and it continues. History tells you managers don’t last long here and it would take something very special to buck that trend this time around. Let’s hope it can be achieved!

Coaches need support from recruitment fans and players ..but most of all the players have to buy into the project and be good enough!I really believe that given what the club will supply to the squad in terms of player quality will handicap anybody taking the coaches job and i think it will be to difficult for them to cope !Time will tell ..lets just wait a few weeks and everything will be in the open for all to see!

I am looking forward to the Dodds announcement any day now. It was let slide in the majority last season because he wasn’t Beale. If he’s given the job and doesn’t hit the ground running he’s going to feel Beale like pressure
