Brydon Carse

Has there been an announcement about his contract because I would assume that it's cancellation would be part of his punishment. I reckon if England want him they'll keep him on. Mind you, whether he's worth the contract is a matter of opinion and a different thing.
Retains his 2 year central contact ,worth about £250k per annum, according to the Times.FTECB proving they’re even dafter than Carse.

I notice Carse is at Durham today with Stokes & Collingwood but interestingly in the nets over past the athletics track near the footy pitches and not in the normal nets behind the County Durham stand. Could that be that Carse isn’t allowed in the ground during his ban?

Could it not be because the normal nets are reserved for lady cricketers involved in tomorrow's International?

You know I never shy away from any opportunity to get stuck into them useless bastards, but in this instance I don’t think it’s necessary.

The whole idea of sportsmen being banned/sanctioned for gambling is an area I really struggle to come to terms with. Now I have to say, any sportsman betting on his own team or indeed a game he’s playing in is absolutely off limits as far as I’m concerned, but Carse didn’t bet on any game he was involved in, so for me I struggle to have too much of a problem with that. Same goes for footballers, etc. I get that it’s to do with them possibly having inside information, but ultimately it’s purely just bookies putting pressure on authorities because they don’t like it when anyone gets ahead of them on any event. It’s all to do with them always wanting to be in control, always wanting the deck stacked in their favour - bollocks to them, it’s high time they had a taste of their own medicine.

That creates grey areas, it’s more appropriate to just ban it.

Really pleased to see him back in the white ball squads, although I admit I didn't think it would be so soon. He was naive, but also out of the game for a long time with injury and all the worry of his career possibly being finished, not in a great place. Not excusing him, but pleased these circumstances were considered when punished and nothing has been held against him.
