The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

I'm not going to repeat myself. Read my previous reply again (feel free to replace 'leave' with 'Brentford are interested in signing Jobe'- it doesn't change my point.

So no bids, no talks and no formal offers.
Cheers for clearing that all up.
My point has been confirmed. Cheers for that.

But he's shit ain't he 😂 it's like when people were saying Henderson wasn't good enough when he left for Liverpool.

The lad is going to do more in the game than Dan Neil and I rate DN highly, another player who a large proportion of our fan base slagged off while he was developing in L1 and Championship.

Imagine a 17 year old making his debut season in a difficult season contributing the goals and assists he had. We’d all be pulling our plonkers.

The fact is he gets sticks cos his name is Bellingham and people compare him to the best midfielder on the planet.

If Chris Rigg has a similar season next season to the one Jobe just had, there'll be plenty of people here talking about a future England captain.

Jobe won’t be in their league. He’s only 18 but he’s huge physically. If it wasn’t for his brother no one would be interested. We have younger players with a lot more talent than him
Who do we have who are younger than him with a lot more talent. There’s only 1 that arguably fits that description

I've read in here he's only getting a game because of his surname

back in the day i always thought jack colback looked a better prospect than henderson at the same age.
just goes to show how much i know about footy :D

All things considered including the sell on clause due to Birmingham, I'd not be selling him unless we're talking record club sale type of money.

With all due respect, Brentford and Crystal Palace aren't the biggest of clubs although granted, I can see Palace pushing on towards Europe next season.

Jobe is 18 years old. He's essentially a second year scholar and already has dozens and dozens of Championship appearances.

He scored 7 goals in what for 3/4 of the time was a massively underperforming squad. Does he makes mistakes? Yes. Which 18 year old footballer doesn't? Should he have played as much as he did last season? Of course not but let's be honest, that's not his fault.

We still don't know even what his best position is. Is he a number 9? A number 8? A number 10? Could he even drop deeper and play as a number 6 in the next few years? We simply do not know.

Do we need to sell Jobe? I'm going to say no. Let's give the lad another season at the very least. Hopefully he won't have to play 98% of the games next season if Rigg and Aouchiche are ready to step up their playing time then we'll likely see a much more refreshed Jobe which as we all know is a more talented Jobe.

If we get it right with him, no disrespect to Palace and Brentford, much bigger clubs will come knocking on the door ready to hand over much more sizeable amounts of cash.

I’d agree here. Unless he's desperate to go or were desperate for cash - neither of which I would imagine is true - I’d try to keep him.

I can’t recall how long his contract is but I would expect if he had another season next year like this one, maybe handled better and more consistently by a single decent head coach, his value would rise

I'd like to keep him but moving to Palace would be a class move for him. He might need to speed up his decision making to keep up with Eze and Olise mind but he'll improve massively playing in that environment

I like Palace style of play and reckon Jobe could grow into it.
