The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

Could this mean Clarke stays? Selling off our top and second top scorer in one go is asking for trouble.

No it won't mean anything of the sort.

We're in trouble regardless unless we invest significant funds in some ready to play attacking players. I don't see how Bellingham staying would change that.

For all he done OK at times last season, realistically he played in an attacking midfield role, up front or as a number 8 with licence to get forward in about 43 of 45 games last season. Whilst 7 goals from an 18 year old sounds like a decent return - he wasn't a bit part player.

It's only a profit when it's realised ... he's obviously got potential, he's not his brother though ... Anything over £15m they'll take it. That's the business.

I'm not saying I expected him to be here for years. I am just surprised it would be immediately after the first year.

I think shoe horning him in regardless of form and no gradual introduction after starting about 7 games at Brum who struggled showed it was always about a quick progression for both sides.

I always thought he might be sold within 18 months if he done half well because there will be big clubs shitting theirselves if they miss out on another like his brother and given his brothers profile the spotlight is on Jobe too.

He's 18 years old man, he's miles away from being the finished article. If we were talking about a seasoned pro I could understand but he's a boy in footballing terms.

And we’re carrying him instead of investing in someone decent that can get us promotion now rather than waiting for jibe to develop over 2 or 3 years
