The seats definitely won't be fixed, that's the finished article. Mentioned ages ago that we weren't doing full rail seating (SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme). To be fair though I've stood in the safe standing area and I don't envisage it causing any issuesWhy is it pretty obvious? How do you know they are finished and there's not more things to install?
That's an assumption at best. You reckon they can just stick a bit of metal there and don't have to adhere to any safety standards?![]()

Without a rail, the back the seat in front would be a significant tripping hazard. All standing is safe imo. It only becomes dangerous when too many people are allowed in and that applies whether there are seats, standing rails or just good old-fashioned terraces inside.
Yeah, you're not telling me anything new here. That's because that area is designated standing and the seats would only be used in Uefa tournaments where standing wasn't permitted.
That design is the norm for rail standing areas across the continent.
They aren't 'old hat' as you've just described.Without a rail, the back the seat in front would be a significant tripping hazard.
Yeah, you're not telling me anything new here.
Those flat metal rail systems are old hat. Handrails incorporated into proper seating areas are becoming more prevalent.

Eeesh, look at Spurs @jarrowdiamond, with that nice new stadium and nasty handrails encroaching on the leg space behind.

Which is what happens at away games, overcrowding when people try to stand with their mates and will probably now happen at home, I can’t see season cards being checked at the end of each row. Might as well have just done away with the actual seats. All standing is safe imo. It's a rail behind the seat. Everywhere's gonna be a bit different, especially when retrofitting. You think that is the same as what we've done?
Look again.
That's purposely built and there is shit loads of leg room. It's a rail behind the seat. Everywhere's gonna be a bit different, especially when retrofitting.
Are you ganna kick them in a git hissy fit like?@Guinness Guzzler is this what was discussed at the meetings? The amount of injuries these are going to cause to people's legs is going to be astronomical. These are dangerous.
Surely you're just being stupid on purpose and you know that metal, shins and knee caps don't go well together. Are you ganna kick them in a git hissy fit like?
A bar at waist height, which will not encroach on leg room. That's purposely built and there is shit loads of leg room.
We have just stuck a bar in front of an already restricted space.
It's a cheap, god awful option we have taken.
There's a hell of a lot less metal being installed with this system than the one you've proposed.Surely you're just being stupid on purpose and you know that metal, shins and knee caps don't go well together.
There is blunt metal legs coming down from the bar after every 4 or 5 seats. This is the space where people walk, squeeze past during the match and celebrate when we score.A bar at waist height, which will not encroach on leg room.
A flat backed metal rail system like those you've posted above however would have significantly encroached on leg room in an all seated configuration.

A significant tripping hazard. I mean it really isn't. Maybe in steeper stands there's an argument there. But can't say ours are. But the authorities ain't budging on.that point.Without a rail, the back the seat in front would be a significant tripping hazard.
The flat backed metal rail system, like celtic have for example, provides far more leg room than ourd appear to have.A bar at waist height, which will not encroach on leg room.

So if that is the finished article then, what’s dangerous about it? Further to that, if you’ve bought a season ticket in a safe standing area with the idea of sitting down whose fault is that? The seats definitely won't be fixed, that's the finished article. I'm just saying why have the rail at all, anywhere. Been plenty stories on here over the years about fans going over the seat in front when celebrating. I've seen it happen myself.A significant tripping hazard. I mean it really isn't. Maybe in steeper stands there's an argument there. But can't say ours are. Look at the width of those rail seat things. Then look at tbe width of our seats and where the metal bar is. You can see there's more space on the above picture.I'm just saying why have the rail at all, anywhere. I don't see how having 2 vertical rails in front of every seat provides more leg space than an open space like.

That to me look a lot more cramped than what we have.
Like I say, I've stood in the safe standing area and thought there was plenty of room. Not sure about the vertical bars like, maybe I was just in an area with the horizontal one, but seemed as much room as normal. There were about 10 people there and no one had any concerns. Obviously need to see what it's like when it's busy/ people are celebrating, but it looked fine to me.So if that is the finished article then, what’s dangerous about it? Agreed mate. I’ve stood in my seat in row 29 for years and years and so has everyone around me. It won’t be an issue for the majority and I suspect the majority of people whining won’t even be in that stand.Like I say, I've stood in the safe standing area and thought there was plenty of room. My only comment to David Bruce was that comms need to be really strong because, even though it's bloody obvious you're meant to stand, the fact the seats are still usable might well mean that someone will say they want to sit. Hopefully very few would do that, but the club need to be clear that standing is to be expected (again, I know it's obvious, but there's nowt as strange as people!). I reckon on the whole people will be happier with the arrangement we've got tbh, seems canny that you can get a seat at half time if you want
I'm looking at it as a 6'2 bloke would. The size of the seat itself looks small and uncomfortable. Once your arse is in and your thigh's horizontal, ya knee's gotta go somewhere.Look at the width of those rail seat things. Then look at tbe width of our seats and where the metal bar is. You can see there's more space on the above picture.
