Your Durham Xl to start T20 campaign.

On paper its looks like Durham should be able to put out a very competitive Xl
I have included Stokes in my Xl (not sure what his plans are)
Lets see if anyone can get the starting Xl right.

Lees
Clark
Stokes (Carse at 7)
Robinson
Ackermam
Turner
Raine
Potts
Sowter
Parkinson
Dwarshius

Possibly a batsmen light i know Jones was going to bat at 7.

I would go with that XI but not sure that either Potts or Stokes will be available although Stokes may well want to have some batting practise albeit with a white ball.Drissell and Carse as their replacements,Carse purely as a better at 3 as a pinch hitter.

Crazy to think that we are going to have the top county run scorer and one of the most destructive batters on the circuit sitting on his hands for the next month.

I imagine Stokes, Carse and Potts will only play a handful at most due to England 'rotation' with either Coughlin/Bushnell/McKinney brought in to replace them
Although for balance been disappointing in T20 cricket for Durham and in South Africa. It does seem economically a bit much to have one if your highest paid players sitting in the stands watching.

I could understand it if they were bringing in a top T20 batsman (I.e. the original plan last year of Tristan Stubbs) but like you say I don't see the economical sense of paying out for another overseas in Turner who has a similar T20 batting record as Bedingham.

Hopefully Turner does well this year, but his previous spells with us haven't been anything special.

Turner has been woeful so far the fact he can bowl some dibble Dolby off spin would not get him in ahead of Bedders Christ he’s hit 20 sixes in first class cricket this season.

But sadly as per most years can only see us being near the bottom of the table.

The thing for me with the Turner signing is he is a very similar style cricketer to Ackerman in that he is an experienced middle order bat and a viable 2nd or 3rd slow bowler depending on conditions.

Unlike you to be negative

For a club that cuts cost wherever possible its beyond farcical we're signing a player to replace the best (?) player we have

Has Mr Turner arrived yet?
I see he has been playing IPL but just checked and its the final today and his team where not in it so hopefully he is flying to the UK and nit back to Aussie.
I know Turner put in a couple of appearances for the 2nds in 2022 and 23 ahead of the Blast starting as did Sowter. I would also imagine Jones will be playing.....weather permitting.
Yeah Sowter definitely back at the club. Somebody on here told me he plays club cricket down south when not required by Durham.
