CC : Durham v Somerset

Once again no updates. A simple "we are hoping it's good to go for 11 but await the umpires call". It's not rocket science just tell us your thoughts on current conditions after the rain
I fully understand your frustration but responsibility for decisions on state of play are solely the umpires.Maybe the lack of comment can be interpreted as a positive sign.

That is always the situation
It is and it's bloody stupid.

Fully aware of that but the club could give some indication like they have done many times in the past and especially for international games. "Pitch looks good but we await the umpires call" isn't difficult and it will give folk some sort of indication albeit unofficially and I think the majority would appreciate that. They'll know

Agreed. It's not difficult in 2024. They're shit hot about Blast tickets and Michael Buble.

And if Somerset can do it.... Why can't Durham??

Clearly not as Somerset have just proven.

It’s still quite a throwaway remark which doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things though, isn’t it?

“We’re hoping for an 11am start” is no different to saying something like “I’m hoping I win the lottery this weekend” or “I hope our lass puts her kinky gear on tonight” 😜

I think on this topic, the best ‘tell’ that play is due to start on time is if warmups have begun.

Durham’s social media team are a massive let down like, I agree on that with you.

Potts rested, feels like a bowling day. With the rain forecast over the four days the best chance of victory probably comes with bowling first and taking ten wickets today. The toss (or more the decisions after winning it) hasn’t been kind to us so far this season but hopefully that changes today.

Aye but that tweet from Somerset just makes it sound like they're interested & keeping folk up to date as best they can. Durham social media are very poor and have been for a very long time. It's about time they started to make an effort with County Cricket
