I'd have him back, his experience alone would propel us, everyone deserves a 2nd chance and just because he made a stupid mistake it shouldn't stop him playing football ( people have done far worse and have been giving 2nd chances) and if it's for a team he grew up to love then BHH

Agreed, poorly advised.After all of that. After bending over for Saudi coin to 'set his family up' having spent 10+ years on Universal Cre...erm, earning well over £1m per year. To then deciding he didn't like it After 6 months and signing for Ajax (primarily to guarantee his England spot).
Then Southgate - after continuing to pick him all the way through - including even starting him in friendlies, he gets all the way to May and suddenly he's not even made the 33 man provisional, and several uncapped players are included. Those players having had no minutes for England in lieu of Southgate dying on his hill of picking the likes of Henderson even in meaningless games.
All of that, for nowt.

Why are footballers always 'poorly advised' when they do something like this? Nobody is holding a gun to their head to move clubs, and they can ignore advice if they want. People are responsible for their own decisions.
Despite that, I doubt Southgate or anyone promised him anything, regardless of who he was playing for. The truth is he hasn't shown good enough form this season (in a relatively weak league) to earn a place in the squad above others who did.
