Inheritance Tax Penalty: who pays?

Absolute rubbish. Why don’t you just send some money to HMRC and help them out a bit?
Nah - that argument just doesn't wash.

I do give HMRC money... lots of it. The money is earned mostly in another country too so I'm bringing money into our economy.
I'll also have no issues at all with my estate being taxed if it exceeds the threshold (probably unlikely).
At the risk of attracting in my stalker, I also give a lot directly from my company to the local community before my company pays tax on the remainder.
If everyone paid that I’d be fine with it. It is a discretionary tax. That is why I think it’s mad to choose to pay it
Like speeding fines. Totally voluntary tax that goes directly to HMRC. I think people are mad to pay that voluntary tax, but loads do.

But you must have an opinion as to how to make it fairer. As we all know IHT is somewhat politically divisive, and any radical changes would be difficult to implement in real life, but that doesn't stop you telling us the sort of direction you'd personally like IHT take
As it is. It is a useless tax. I’d scrap it. A wealth tax would be more useful.

You pay as much tax as you like. There is no point in going round in circles. You clearly think simple tax planning is wrong.
