CC : Hampshire v Durham

Looks like another bore draw on the cards

Seems to be no urgency for the sides batting first ala Hampshire and Warwickshire to score more quickly to force a result

1-286 for the season now.

He was played ahead of coughlin who is our leading pace bowler with 8 wickets at an average of 18.

The averges make for grim reading tbh

I think the Coughlin omission is more likely to be managing his workload given his past.

I think you're right, its just canny shocking the difference. I guess it gives us hope.maybe carse still.has some use as a cricketer

You’re being harsh, the kid is an immense talent. Remember Harmy having similar issues early in his career, my only concern is that his time with England has knocked him back years in his development - after all, they ruined Plunkett and Onions for a time too.

On Coughlin, he’s started the season brightly, my hope would be that he plays next week at Blackpool, but with Stokes due to come in I don’t think there’ll be room for him if we go Potts, Raine, Siddle and Stokes as the four quicks.

On this today, it looks like another shirtfront, the Hampfrica man on comms Kevin James called it quite early on Day 1 suggesting that it would be very difficult for either team to take 20 wickets and that pitches at Southampton tend to hold up very well over the four days. Here’s hoping he’s right and our lads can bat well enough today to avoid the follow on - it feels very similar to Warwickshire in that the game will be over if we can do that, if we can’t it could be a very tough and nervy last day.

Despite this, we've been second best in those games and come out with fewer batting and bowling points than the opposition. Worcestershire aside, our much vaunted bowling attack has struggled (our leading wicket taker is the attritional Parkinson) and there's a weakness in the upper batting order caused by a makeshift opener with an exploitable weakness.
He is 29 in 6 weeks.
I have said on here before its frightening how quick times go by.
Disappointing how he hasn't kicked on. I'm with England on this debate. He should bowl flat out for impact and not worry about figures. Also fuck knows why we signed Glover.

It's one thing having spin friendly pitches but not when they're seam unfriendly as we seem to have had this summer so far.
