Anthony Gordon

I'll be honest, I was only saying I wasn't sure if I'd take him because I forgot the squad size was expanded to 26.

Rightly or wrongly I think Southgate will start with Foden on the left to allow Bellingham the number 10 role, which I personally think makes sense. But in a 23 you'd only likely have one other option for most positions. Rashford would have a bit of a chance because you can also use him as a striker, but mainly you've got Grealish who I would expect to get a place, at which point although I like what Gordon offers, it could be hard to take him.

With 26 there's more room to take him and, because he offers something totally different to Grealish and Foden, I definitely think he warrants a place. Mind I've always been able to separate club from country, no issue with mag players at all if they make the national team stronger. At least until the tournament finishes, then they can fuck off again!

I think Grealish will be dropped from the squad completely. The attackers in my opinion will be Kane, Watkins, Toney, Saka, Palmer, Foden, Gordon and Bowen.

Tin hat on he goes before Grealish or Rashford for me
He’s on form seems hungry, full of confidence
He offers England pace from bench will win them plenty of free kicks as well etc
More of a goal threat than grealish who often flatters to deceive
It will be criminal if Rashford goes he’s been absolutely dreadful
Take the mag thing out of it Gordon has been outstanding this season and deserves a spot

I'd probably agree. Like I say I'm not bothered in the slightest about the mag thing where England are concerned. Especially when it's not even a proper Shearer-esque mag, just a lad who is playing there and will happily fuck off and never give them another thought if the right offer comes.

For me, if Foden starts on the left and it isn't working, I think Gordon offers something very different. I'm not sure Grealish would necessarily have the same impact. Personally I wouldn't take Rashford because I don't think he's been anywhere near good enough recently. He might be able to play up front in a pinch, making him versatile, but with a 26 man squad we shouldn't need him to.

I do think there's a high chance that Southgate will take Grealish though. He's playing pretty regularly for man city, he hasn't let him down previously and he's now got the much valued (at least by Southgate) "tournament experience". Palmer is bound to go (rightly), so adding Gordon would be a couple of players who don't have that experience. I also think Bowen might go as an option from the right, so again I think Southgate would be worried about the experience aspect. Maybe not, but although I'd take Gordon I think there's every chance that Southgate won't

That’s a fair shout tbh, all in great form atm….but we know Southgate won’t factor that in if he wants one of his favouritesin there

Thought he had cost about £30 million. I think in todays market he would be worth in the region of £90/£100 million, he is still very young.
40m I think , but that’s no doubt crept up tothe 50/60 m with this seasons form. Look at what Man U and Chelsea have splurged on absolute shite,
, so I guess it all depends how desperate teams are to buy him

He's a clever lad indeed. Most of the talk about him is how he likes to con the ref, his looks and haircut....but we all agree he's a very good player yes? He's up there already with Gareth Bale when it comes to winning free kicks etc, ok for Bale, so why not. He's improving every match and the price paid for him now seems to be worth it, was a good move for him to be fair.
He's no glamour-goblin like Foden, but an upcoming England prospect for sure. Sorry pmsl here

Not sure I agree that refusing to play while contracted for your boyhood favourite team who are struggling in order to force through a move to the rich Saudis constitute the actions of a ‘decent lad’ though…….
Everton were a basket case TBF.

ARE a basket case rather than were……but so are we under Speakman and how would we feel if Dan Neil, a MLF knew he was guaranteed to go but still downed tools and refused to play - a complete kick in the balls to your fellow fans.

Contrast that with Jack Clarke who’s also guaranteed a move and could quite easily have sat out the rest of the season (like a Rodwell) but has jumped back in although we’ve got nothing to play for.

Gordon may well be a good player but in no way does he fit the tag of a decent lad.

Listening to the lad on that Gary Neville podcast thing, he comes across as a decent lad, with this elite mindset where he wants to make it to the very top.

With this mindset players can become very selfish and therefore will do anything to get themselves to the top of their game, be it forcing a move from a mediocre club to one where there is potential to actually win something, or the the way he manages a game to get the best result.

Pretty sure he couldn’t give a fuck about the ‘noise’ surrounding him from opposition and rival fans, let’s be all honest, if he gets us a penalty or free kicks in the Euros which lead us to having a very good tournament we’ll not give a fuck what he does.

Not having a capable striker, or an experienced CDM is absolutely incomparable to the problems at Everton currently. Strange to bring Speakman up considering how much he lacks relevance to what's going on, and what has been going on at Everton.

Iirc Gordon downed tools because he was being attacked by fans every time he left Goodison after home games. Unless we've done that to Clarke, that's also a strange comparison.

Just heard it. He comes across incredibly well (pains me to say it) and certainly seems to have the attitude to be a top top player. If he can stay fit and keep the pace he’s some player, as shit as that is.

Think he’s smashing me & called it as such when he signed for Newcastle. I must say I was disappointed to hear he doesn’t do weights, I think he should trust the team fitness staff more
