We have some of the fittest Linos we’ve ever had who, by and large, keep up with play. If it isn’t obvious to the naked eye then just let the goal stand. Today’s match the Lino was bang in line, if it isn’t obvious to him then let it stand.I honestly don’t know.
I’d hope that offsides could be automated, within a margin of error, that gave benefit to attacker
I’d then clarify the stupid “clear and obvious” thing.
I quite like the way rugby does it it.
Which picture? This one that allows the advantage to the attacker with the thicker line yet they still didn't overlap?Arms don't count. If you zoom in on the picture the lines aren't in the right place. He was onside.

Not sure why you want to argue with me on thisIf you think it's been implemented badly I thought you must have had a better idea. How would you transition what they do in rugby over to football?

It lacks consistency in application, including across games
The rugby “conversation” between officials is good

Also look at the lines near the linesman for a better perspective of how 'close' it was as it's not a toenail.

I guess some don't realise that the bit 'going over the foot' is simply the vertical line as shown in the image below. Seeing as it's foot level it looks like that but you can see 1 square of the dotted line just above the boot. Either the person posting that is oblivious or just posting it for shit n giggles. You must be logged on to see media items
Was it though? The frame rates and clarity of picture mean they can't be sure exactly when the ball left the players foot. The Coventry goal was offside like
In rugby, the on field official talks through the play with the video ref. That’s usefulI'm not arguing marra. Genuinely curious. If you think something been implemented badly then I was just curious as to how you'd do it so it's better.
When you say conversation do you mean you would like to hear what the officials are saying?
this.
it's not rocket science.
Ditch the lines, use VAR to call obvious mistakes and if they're not obvious then stay with the onfield decision.
That Coventry goal is not obvious. Assistant doesn't flag. Goal stands.
Respect is the mantra we supporters have thrust upon us but the FA and clubs still fawn over and take their money from Saudi.Football has become completely soulless.
VAR
Taking knee (keep politics away from football)
No standing
Female commentators
Constant diving
Characters thing of the past
Whole thing is so horribly sanitised now.

VAR now seems to make a call to direct the official to the monitor, which has become a code for “you got it wrong, but I’m not making that call, it’s up to you”
Has the ref made an obvious error? If you need to use video playback and draw lines across the pitch to judge then it's not an obvious error. Can you not see the problem there? The term 'obvious' is meaningless. What does it actually mean? If someone's offside they are offside, it's as simple as that. You can't say well he's offside but only be a bit so we'll let it go

Its absolutely offside. People are just being daft and dont like that a goal has been chalked off for a marginal offside.Which picture? This one that allows the advantage to the attacker with the thicker line yet they still didn't overlap?

If VAR's 'ruined' football then you probably never liked the sport that much anyway.
Ruined it ffs. Grown men don't half go on bairns when it comes to VAR and referees.
