Not sure he'd have fared any better on that Edgbaston wicket.
Can't really go off kookaburra figures. Even if you do, Callum must be around the same. Last season matt was exceptional for us while Callum was struggling to get a game and averaged about 50 across the season iirc

Matt has 6 wickets at 73.66
Callum has 2 wickets at 104.50

Matt is a genuine wicket taker and SB used him well last season.

Not so much. The pitch has changed, it's not so much a minefield for batsmen these days, hence, and for other reasons the need for a good spinner.
