You cannot score with 40p, £40, £40,000 or £40m. You cannot physically put money on a football pitch and expect it to play well. Only players do that. I'd rather have the players than the money.

It’ll be spent on a load of wingers and attacking midfielders from the continent, who will all turn out to be average and not ready for a promotion push.

We won’t buy a striker as there will be “no value in the market” despite everyone else doing it.
