India v England 3rd Test Rajkot

We should try to bat out a day and a half. Not chase it

We won’t of course

This is where the entire approach is totally flawed. If we chase an impossible win, because that’s what it is, we will lose badly and go some way to handing the series to India.

There is only one approach that makes any sense here and it is attempting to bat long. Crawley and Duckett should play as they do but from Pope down to Hartley there is enough batting technique to make a fist of batting out for a draw and keeping the series more alive.

What’s entertaining about losing badly?

You have to feel for the bowling attack. It can’t be easy having to bowl everyday of nearly every test we play
It's an awful role for the bowlers, especially two newbie spinners and a part time spinner. On top of that a 40 year old seamer and a fragile fast bowler, its putting so much on them to essentially bowl every day while the batters do barely any work at present

The India supporters would - and very likely will - enjoy watching us losing badly.

If we’re to play a 40 year old and a genuine fast bowler they simply have to be looked after.

Wood will become just an 84mph bowler if he’s required to bowl everyday and it’s a total waste of his talent.

Our bowlers out there for just under 230 overs.

There's will be out there for at most 120 overs. Cos we will try and chase this and be all out before lunch tomorrow.

Even if we forget how silly this no draw approach is in scenarios like this game. The fielding for double the amount the opposition does is is not sustainable in test cricket and surely knackers our bowlers for the remaining games too.

We had to bat the day yesterday yet we barely batted more than a session. It's absolutely no wonder our bowlers had no chance in this third innings.
