India v England 3rd Test Rajkot

To be fair in isolation I don’t think Stokes’ dismissal was terrible. He played himself in nicely, and then went to become more expansive which is typical for him.

Still such a frustrating day. Hopefully we can scrape together another 60 or 70.

Absolutely retarded batting I’m sorry. They’re missing their main bowler, bumrah was hobbling yesterday and jadeja wasn’t fully fit. Just bat time against them and they’ll fall apart over the course of a full day. But instead we play stupid shots and get ourselves out time after time. Need a massive shakeup to the batting lineup for me - some of these shots are just not acceptable and we’ve thrown away a game we should have been winning from that position
Duckett was superb but the rest haven’t really turned up. You could argue Pope got slightly unlucky. Brook should come in for Bairstow when fit. Still not sure Foakes is a good enough batsman, but clearly a superb keeper.

Ashwin was fit and they had 10 2nd innings wickets.
Today they dont and only have 9 wickets.
Game awareness again non existent, Lords all over again

It’s frustrating, but it’s quite clear they’re not going to change their mindset and approach no matter what.

Yesterday was class, today the complete opposite, but they’ll never stop trying to be positive.

But where’s the line between positive and idiotic?

At -150/5 it’s not a shot you should be playing

There's a time to attack, a time to defend and a time to just sit in and play sensibly.

At 300-5 (145 behind) it was time to sit in for the session.

For what it’s worth, I do agree. But we’re all completely wasting our time because they’re not going to change the way they play at all.

Root for me is the biggest frustration. Best batsman in the world who scores quickly just by playing his natural game.

Duckett was positive, root and stokes were idiotic.

Root trying to reverse ramp Bumrah with 2 slips...idiocy
Bairstow got a good one early
Duckett got caught in two minds by a long hop
Stokes didnt execute his shot correctly...straight after lunch no need to go after the bowling
Foakes done by the ball sticking in t!he pitch but neither attacking it or defending it

You can’t just sit back and go “but it’s how we play” constantly. They need to adapt to game situations as well as just throwing the bat at everything.

Today.
Opportunity to bat them out the game or get parity (where i dont think we would have lost this game as India would either get bowled out for a chaseable target or not leave us enough time to chase a target given Ashwins absence), wear their bowlers down, make them work for every wicket and come at them fresh tomorrow.

I agree, and it’s hugely frustrating that they clearly don’t agree and continue with this approach no matter what, even when they perhaps should adapt. It’s happened a few times now, and usually you’d question why they’re not learning any lessons….but I don’t think they’re interested in that, they know how they want to play and they’ll back themselves no matter what has happened previously, and no matter the situation.

When it comes off it’s superb, when it doesn’t come off it’s hugely frustrating and we’ll question the lack of adaptation.

The way Duckett bat last night was very low risk and sensible. The way root, stokes, Foakes, Bairstow all bat today was reckless. It’s totally different

100%.

Duckett was playing shots to suit the field, the majority of his boundaries were to vacant areas of the boundary.

Our three most important men today all got themselves out. That’s annoying as f*ck.
Tell you what, i dont think Leach gets back in ahead of these lads when they can bat like number 7/8s

I said last week that I thought this injury could spell the end of his international career.

Need to look at the combination of Root and Baistow at 4 and 5 in the remainder of the series. Havnt been good enough

I’d drop Bairstow. If we’re being honest he’s been shite since his broken leg.
Almost looks deliberate now, throwing their wickets away like this

I thought the bad old days of the England collapse were over. This is as bad as I’ve ever seen.

Need to drop a large chunk of them to show them this isn’t acceptable. Absolutely joke this morning

I know the figures dont show it, but thought Hartley bowled with some nice variation in the 1st innings and looked like taking a wicket.
Leach reminds me of a poorer Panesar, 6 balls in the same spot but doesnt rip it as much.

And another idiotic wicket
Bring back Leach
Pre or post Bazball Leach Batter
