Hi - I'm plodding on thanks. Still struggling with both mental and physical health. My crohn's is still flaring as the steroids I had didn't work. I spoke to the IBD nurse and she wants to see me on Friday. She's going to run a load of bloods and a calprotectin test to find out the level of inflammation and the amount of immunosuppressant currently in my body. I might need my dose upping on that but she wants to see the blood results first as too much immunosuppressant can cause liver failure!

Hope you and the family are well xx
So sorry your still struggling mate and hope the liver results are all good. As you know my liver knackered so not allowed painkillers etc but I have started using cannabis oil on a night and it does help me with the pain a little but I have also heard that it may help with Crohn's as can help with sleeping and help appetite wise. Not too sure if it would help just thought I would pass it on to see if you knew anything about it. Either way keep plodding on mate ❤️ .

I looked at cannabis oil out of curiosity once but got confused with all the different colours and didn't really understand it 😊

Hi becs. Sorry to hear this. You must be very frustrated. You know where I am for you always. You know my wife died some years ago well her mother died just before Christmas she was 105! Apart from that I am totally retired after leaving Morrisons. They were giving me a disciplinary for absence when I was off for sciatica. I said to them it had better be good because I used to sit on that side of the desk! I produced a 3 page report and they had never seen anything like that - I had to explain a couple of words to them. A 3-hour break then happened as they took advice from HQ. They asked me if I would like to be a union rep because they very rarely get anyone appealling and the staff member usually is not confident to do it. The case was dismissed but they found anther example further down my record and I could not be bothered. I said I am not going to play your games. I am 70 and I dont need this crap. I am going home and not coming back. SDo I am living the quiet life now. Take care and lovely to chat with you as always.

So sorry for your loss but living to 105 is amazing!

That's awful what you went though with Morrisons. It's terrible when companies treat people like that. Hope you are enjoying retirement.

Simply CBD have a Facebook group where you can get advice on their products. I used them for my dog and I think they might have a separate one for dogs so if you do join be careful which you pick 😉

Its really sad that some people are using what's said on this thread as ammo against people.

Its why I haven't shared much on here, been up and down like a yoyo but its not worth it being used against you at a later date, its a shame as it has been helpful in the past, just lurk now, knowing I am not alone helps.

Do you mean people are viewing post history on here and using it in other threads? That's something that should be clamped down on if reported. It would be handy if post history on this forum was hidden if possible.

Totally totally shitty that people use this for ammo on other threads mate , just shows what they are truly like though having to do that. Mate don't let it stop you posting and helping others and same goes for everyone else ❤️

Awful mate. I've found this thread personally great with some really kind people and positive support. I've also found the wider forum at times negative and poisonous with name calling etc which is why I've been off here for a bit. That's nothing unique to the SMB its the internet and social media in general. It isnt healthy.

yes, heard stories of other people having what they have posted on here thrown back at them, its just not very nice, we all disagree at times and sometimes debates can become very heated, but its a low person to use a persons health issues to prove a point or as "banter"

More I read about that kind of thing happening the more I thought it best to keep my mouth shut, apart from a few PM's.

The dog doesn't need it. He's a lunatic without any help 😁

Two men do that often regarding one of my health conditions. One posts it and tags the other one and they have a good old chortle about it.

It caused me a great deal of pain and discomfort before I got it under control. It's been a contributing factor in my poor mental health so I'm not really sure what is funny about it.

It actually calmed my dog a little before I was able to afford a behaviourist and expensive medication. Enough to get him out the house at least. He's on selegiline now and stares me down when I give him commands that are not related to food haha.

That's awful behaviour. There are some awful posters on here for abusive behaviour.

Awww bless him! It's a long road but hopefully you'll get there with him.

Mine is nervous of things. At one point he wouldn't pass people or dogs and would lay down and not move. He's getting better with that now but still randomly freaks out, even at dogs and people he's happily passed before. He was spooked by a poo bag in a tree the other day. The best one was when he freaked at a road cone laying on it's side in an underpass. He barked at it and then cowered at his own bark echoing down the subway 😂

He's going to classes at the moment to help him face his fears. I'm off there tonight and we enjoy it.

He kicks leaves around but scarpers if the wind blows them. I can't take him to classes as I need to pin him down with force for injections so vaccinating him is out of the question, it is just too harrowing an experience and sets him back. When he sees a hedgehog it's like those old cats and cucumber things. I don't think I'll ever get him totally past traffic noise and the general unknown. Any bang may as well be a gun shot too and means end of walk.

Have you seen Absolute Dogs?

You don't have to pay for things. Join their mailing list and look at their Facebook and YouTube pages for plenty of free videos, tips and ebooks. All their stuff is food based games.

With Charlie, I started in the house feeding him high value food like pieces of cheese or liver, while rubbing his side and saying "calm" at him. He was living his best life there being petted and fed treats! That made him associate "calm" with a really good feeling. He was scared of traffic too, so I started in the memorial garden near me which is set back from the road. We got to the point where he was aware of the road and we just walked backwards and forwards with me petting him, feeding treats and saying calm. The next time we did it a step closer to the road. And so on until I eventually got him walking along the footpath next to the road. He's great now with most traffic apart from noisy things like a big lorry or an old bus.

If we come across anything else he's scared of, I use "calm", treats and the stroking to get him past. It's kind of saying to him, yes these things are here but they're nothing to do with us and it's safe to ignore them.

Thanks I'll try that. He won't take high value food when we are out and he is nervous or scared. If it is a familiar situation like a walk around the block he filters out traffic noise, but a bang, never.

I have issues with snappy little dogs like chihuahua and Shi Tzu as owners let them nip him all the time and just laugh. I think they feel the dogs are harmless often. Then the daft sod barks towards big dogs and doesn't like it when they run over

As an aside @DBStar. If your dog ever had to go to the vets you could get sedatives from them before hand. Our dog needs muzzled and can just about cope with injections but anything more bloods, examination etc he has to be sedated before.
Similar to Becs by the sounds nervous of everything. Will bark aT anything out of the ordinary out of being scared. Charity bags at the end of a drive are a favourite.

Thanks for the suggestion. The first time he went for the vet injecting him. So we came away with a gabapentin and trazodone. He was stoned as and we still had a duel for 10 minutes to get the muzzle on. 3 weeks later for the second part, I wore welding gloves and though he was still stoned he was even more up for a duel. I got a bruise through the gloves, then he just lay down after 10 mins and we got the muzzle on. When he had some teeth out last year, 45 minutes after a large sedative (just to allow the vet to look at them) he was still standing. They gave him another (it took some real force to restrain him still) and half hour after that, I got a sore one trying to muzzle him. Took an hour and a half in total. Too much adrenaline. He's only the size of a heeler runt

I've tried all the muzzle training. Nothing gets him to allow it near him him sadly - he won't lick foods from it etc. Sometimes I feel the best I can do really is make his life as enjoyable as possible

Sounds like he's lucky to have such an understanding owner 💜. It's difficult having a fearful dog.
