The atmosphere at home these days

Someone posted before the match of the team arriving and all looking sick as fook, thought nowt of it till the match started and they all looked down, not knowing what the tactics were etc. I think he's sucked the life out of them already, they always looked happy etc under mowbray even when things went south.
Can't be denied like. They are not smiling. The club is not. Be Interesting to see how cool kld appears when facing unhappy fans. How.long before he stops attending I wonder?

It's not a patch on what it used to be and is generally shite. Even the Derby wasn't that good compared to what it was in years gone by. I remember the first ever derby at the SoL when we drew 2-2 with them. Probably the best atmosphere I've ever been in. The place was absolutely electric. Still remember my ears ringing for a couple of days afterwards. Last week was a pale imitation of that. The buzz and the energy has gone from the stadium over the years.
A lot of our most loyal supporters are now knocking on and aren’t the type for singing. That includes my old man btw.

Club have done nothing to be proactive on safe standing, which might help.

I know two good lads whose “ kids “ turned to support the Mags ?
Known them a long long time but really find it difficult how as a dad you would let this happen
Also know a lad who is a Mag ( never goes ) and his son is safc mad
I’ve got two lads live in Newcastle-both go to home games ( in fact one got moved from his season ticket seat to accommodate the Mags -ironic as he’s behind enemy lines) and got Metro the derby day- would I disown them for turning to dark side?
“What two sons ? “

Problem is when you build a squad of strong minded lads, that are young and enjoy their manager because he's got experience, demands respect and treats them like humans, then take that figure away in exchange for a terrible manager, you're gonna have plenty of deflated lads.

An uncomfortable truth, perhaps, but a lot of our match going fans do it more out of duty than any real enjoyment. You can’t blame them for that stance btw, given the guff served up for far too long and until relatively recently.

The lack of enjoyment can, imo, be seen by the amount pouring in after kickoff, disappearing on 30 mins, back at least five mins after HT and leaving from 80 mins.

The atmosphere since away fans were moved has been horrific. Apart from the very odd game.

When away fans were downstairs there were some poor games for atmosphere but no where near as bad as now.

Sadly given the horrific way the club have treat fans I dont see how they can move away fans downstairs anytime soon.

No one seems to pinpoint where to

Watching matches at home during the lockdown was a real eye-opener for me in that regard.

Realised that I wasn't missing going to the matches at all, haven't been back since that Gillingham game and given the way that the owner continues to treat our match-going support with total disdain I have zero intention of setting foot in the ground until he's gone.

I’m not sure I agree tbh given the pitiful away attendances we get. And again, no one seems to pinpoint where they should actually go in the ground. Just gives the away team an advantage too

Our home form hasn't exactly been great since we shifted them upstairs and it totally killed the atmosphere. Noise inside football stadiums was traditionally back and forth banter between home and away fans so even when the match was boring and their wasn't much to get excited about you still had that going on. We've lost that now.

I work with 2 lads who'd had season cards for years but haven't been back since COVID. They were going out of habit/duty whilst not really enjoying it all that much and when the habit was broken that was it.

This years Saudi game in those first 30 mins was absolutely incredible. Ive been to them all and that was right up there. The performance meant it tailed off badly.

Definitely this. I only go out of habit tbh. My son who is now 19 who has been a season card holder since he was 4 and Friday was the final straw for him: he has just decided to jack it in, he has better things to do, like do extra shifts at work. My 14 year old now prefers other stuff like going to watch other sports - frankly I get more enjoyment out of that too. I'll still buy season cards for the time being in case things improve and he changes his mind (until the beginning of this season he was still enjoying it), but the combination of lack of investment in the team, the knowledge that our best players will be off soon enough, the replacement of a likeable man who did a really good job and delivered exciting football with the most useless and obnoxious manager in his lifetime, shite football, the shite experience, and the increasingly decrepit stadium, doesn't make it an easy sell.

Terrible what these arrogant, incompetent, money grabbing wankers - the Trust Fund Brat, Davidson the engineering consultant, Speakman and his 'obsession with pvugvession', and Michael f***ing Beale - are doing to this club, and it will have consequences for a generation.

Stoke at home is going to be absolutely turgid isn’t it? I can see them getting 3 points and probably to rub it in, Gayle scores again and does his stupid mag celebration.
