How did it go?

Pretty good. Ash Thorpe was compere. No appearance from North and Campbell, but John Windows and Rachel Hopkins discussed the men’s and women’s academies and pathway scheme. We then had Vic Demain, who was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Finally, members of the events and operations team.

Points of interest:
- the hotel planning application will be submitted next week
- at the moment there are no music events planned for the summer but there will be a fireworks display in November, jointly with CLS CC
- Vic is a very interesting character. He took umbrage at Colly’s comments about the riverside pitches when he first arrived. Since Campbell arrived, the pitches are prepared differently so they deteriorate rather than improve during a game. He also said the preparation for any pitch would be the same, whether it was an u13 match or a test match.

Others who attended may have more to add!

There is a meet the players evening on 20th March.

A decent evening I thought.

Anything interesting of note with that? know a couple of lads who's kids are on various pathways boys and Girls. heard good and bad reports

Usual stuff if you play at the wrong club youv'e no chance no matter how good you are, Money being pumped into girls pathway, a lot of it had been free last few seasons

I had to leave after Vic's speech but I too thought he was both informative and entertaining. He mentioned that he's never known worse weather since the season ended and think he's only been able to work on the square two days since the last week of October. Vic also said that the first thing Campbell told him on his arrival was that Durham would be playing a spinner in every match.

He also said that he hadn't been too pleased with the criticism he had received in the 2022 season over the 'dead' Riverside wickets.

Anyone going on Wednesday?
