Yann M'vila - target or not?

It's not like he's some championship player that hasn't played for months, he was playing in Europe 22/23, he will be a lot better and more ready than that. He has kept fit the whole time constantly posting training pics on his instagram, I think this could be what we needed

Im obviously happy we're potentially signing a "holding" midfielder, with experience. But, I cat help but think if we were signing a 33 year old who hadnt played for 6months there'd be hell on!
I think that's looking on the negative side. He is probably the best defensive midfielder we've had in living memory, played forty odd games at a good level last year. He'd be good for a couple of seasons and a great signing.

You aren't seriously judging his fitness based on him posting pictures on instagram

Every thing you just said, applied to Jermain Defoe before we re-signed him.

There's nobody in this world who can tell me the "model" isn't clearly focused on developing youngsters and selling for a profit.
The only way that model will work, though, is if we don't hang the youngsters out to dry.

If we don't sign older experienced players to guide them on the pitch and to mop up after them, when they try one too many Cruyff turns or they stand and admire their work, after a run of the mill tackle, they'll lose confidence (as is already beginning to happen), regress, and won't be worth anywhere near what we're hoping to get for them.

Ekwah, for example, has a massive ceiling but he's going backwards, rapidly and there's nobody around him to take some of the burden. If the likes of him and Jobe are going to flourish, we need real experience around them to do the donkey work.
Of course not….smashes The Model into pieces
No it doesn't. It is a perfect example of the model working.

It doesn’t. We signed Pritchard, Batth, Defoe, Evans etc etc.

But it might smash our wage structure to pieces - so that’s the hard to believe bit.
I think it will be a total disaster. It smells of making a signing that appeases the fans. Doesn't fit the structure or model at all.
