Yann M'vila - target or not?

You seen him play lately too make that statement? He's a lot older nowadays
Ha'way mate he's made 95 league appearances and 34 European appearances in just 3 seasons for Olympiacos finishing as Champions twice and a respectable third place behind AEK and Panathinaikos, themselves regular European competitors.
Sadly I don't have access to watch him in the Greek league nor Europa League but let's face it, if he's 75% of the player we remember, he'd still be the best defensive midfielder in the Championship.

Different positions and different ages.

That logic is the same as saying we shouldn’t sign an experienced striker in January because we once signed Will Grigg!
What an odd post, I haven't said it's literally the same situation.
Can't for the life of me understand how people can be negative about the possibility of this
I think it's an easy one to be sceptical about, he hasn't kicked a ball this season and doesn't seem to have been close to joining anyone.

Lost 4 in 19 from January getting 27 points from 19 games. We were improving as season progressed and lost just 1 in last 11 to the Champions Leicester

And then Moyes arrived!! Watched his first press conference to tell us we will be in a relegation battle. If he worked for me I would have dragged in my office and asked him to watch back his press conference and asked him to explain why so much doom and gloom. That man destroyed this club, it was like he never wanted to be here. Can you recall he said he couldn’t believe how poor the players were after his first training session!!!

Sorry rant over but I have no time for the man…. The signing of Lescott who was playing in Greece was well…. !!

Nice to see some excitement amongst the fans but if he is still a good player why is he a free agent? We can’t be the only club wanting a central midfielder. Feels a bit like the defoe signing. Sign him and hope he sticks 5k on the crowd his first game and boost income. Why weren’t we in for him in the summer? I’m probably over sceptical but it comes across to me that the club know the fans are pissed off so they are going to try and get moore on loan to please the fans and probably bring mvilla in short term to please the fans. Mvilla will pay for himself in gate receipts and moore probably cost us a bit more but only short term loan so club happy to take hit and them revert to type in summer hoping anger died down by then.

The Man City home game that January where the three ‘K’s made their debuts is one of the only times I’ve came away from watching us get beat absolutely buzzing.

Despite the defeat you could clearly see those three signings had moved us up a level and I instantly knew we were going to be ok.

Didnt we only lose 3 league games between January to May? I’m sure our form was top 6 from then on?
Aye had a canny shit start but once Jan come he got a couple in and the team started to understand his tactics we were one of the best sides outside the top 4

Then why be sceptical?
If what you have described is our minimum return, it's way way better than not doing it.
I just happen to think that someone with over 120 appearances for a regular European competitor will provide an awful lot more personally and professionally within our young squad than you describe.

As people have said, if he's half the player he was when he was here then he'll be a huge asset to us for the rest of this season and possibly even beyond. Limited downside potential in reality whats the worst thats likely to happen? Huge upside even if just for his experience and how the younger lads in the squad will benefit, but i'd bet my bottom dollar he'd have a huge impact on field himself.

Was playing Europa league just last season, its not that long ago. Can't get my head around said skepticism

I don't think it's too hard to grasp any scepticism to be honest, he's getting on and it'll take a while to get him match fit. The upside is as you've said.

As i've mentioned just because what are the risks? He said he'd only drop down to a 2nd division to sign for Sunderland, in my humble opinion if the club had a chance to sign him and didn't take it they'd be round the bend

While I loved him and would love to see it work out, I can’t help but think it’ll ply out like Defoe again.

Bring him in to keep the fans happy and win them back over.

Then he hardly gets a kick because it’d mean jobe, Neil, ekiwah etc losing valuable minutes in the shop window.
