Henderson (prediction)

Why is he not coming to England...tax?

Basically. If he came back to the UK now, he'd be liable for a sizable tax bill. He wouldn't have had to pay a penny tax on his £700,000 a week wages if he'd honoured his contract in Saudi for 2 years. He'll now have to settle a bill in Saudi at a rate of 20%. If he came back to the UK, as he hasn't properly broken his UK residence tax by being out of the country for what was left of the tax year he left and the full year after that (so basically summer 2025) then he'd be liable for another sizable bill (including tax and National Insurance) at a rate of 47%. So if he came back to the UK now, he'd basically be paying 67% of what he'd earned in Saudi out in tax and National Insurance.

He's already back from Saudi, though initially very keen, will now not be coming back to SAFC. :(

Reason = negotiating/working with the bellend that is Mr Speakman.

Source = don't ask, will not be sharing.
Honestly, I bet that's bollocks. Hes not coming because we wouldn't pay his wages and would earn far more elsewhere. If it wasn't, he'd of came back the start of this season.

100% not true, he wanted to come back and didn't give a toss about wages, just wanted to come home and would have come to the club in a heartbeat, Speakman is an issue though.

You got about right. Has to pay local tax if uk has a reciprical tax agreement with the country he works in. If he pays that tax in the country he resides for a full 2 UK tax years (April to March in Uk) then he does not have to pay UK tax. I worked overseas and these are the rules. If he left after start of the tax year in April 2023 then his first full tax year will end March 2025, he will have to out of uk till March 2026 to avoid UK tax.

What about speakman was the problem? It would be his agent negotiating his return, and if he just wanted to come home, then what were the blockers speakman was putting in his way?

His interest to come back to SAFC was bubbling along under the radar well before Christmas. He wanted out of Saudi, wasn't interest in wages, just wanted to come back and play footy back in UK, first choice being coming back to where it all began. That's a non starter now.

Aye, you've said but not outlined why Speakman was the issue. Make it make sense or there isn't any point in making that statement.

I'm not party to that level of detail. Just posting what I know, but KS's reputation with a large percentage who have met him or worked with him is not good really.
Ok, so a statement made without an ounce of weight behind it. I'm not saying he's well respected or not within footballing circles but it just sounds like another stick to beat him with, when in reality, like most others you've not got a clue

What changed from it starting to bubble away to then becoming a problem with Speakman, given he (Speakman) was already here? Actual contact made?
