*~*~* Rotherham v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

It's the passing anywhere but to the blatently obvious direct pass to the striker that does it for me.

We play far to comfortably to offer any sort of threat against defensive sides that are happy to be out of possession.
This too. There's no third man run. Just pass and then see what happens, then pass again.

You break teams down by anticipating the pass and already being on the move. Not standing around waiting to see if you player receives the ball first.

Any slight glint of an outside hope we had of pulling off a shock result v the mags is gone now. Be lucky not to get absolutely mullered off them.
We showed yet again that if a team gets in to us, we don't have many answers. Easy as piss to play against us.

Glad Seelt got subbed, he never looked like he wanted play to go forwards.

Pass to who
There’s rarely anyone in the box
I don't mean cross it into the box, pass it back to whoever supplied him or simply move the ball into the centre of the pitch. The current outcome is normally losing the ball when trying to take on 2, so instead of that keep the ball and move it back towards our own half to go again.

When you see how Bennette's only assist of the season came from an absolutely sublime cross from 30 yards out, it's an absolute f***ing wonder why on earth and what on earth he's done wrong to deserve being completely frozen out of the team.

It is confusing, but let's also not forget it was a bit of a free for all against a side wide open and not competing as they should.

Bennette for me doesn't do many things required from a wide player, but can beat men, get in behind and provide a bit of quality- he's ot consistent with it, but there's more scope there than I'm yet to see from Ba or Aouchiche.

Tin hat on. But Beale changed it subs, barring Burstow, had an impact.

Old saying that if you aren’t good enough on the day to win then don’t lose.

And that’s as positive as I can be.

Jobe staying on was puzzling and although he’s got to take a slice of the blame for the goal, he managed his game well.

Ba grew into the game so a little pat on the back for him.

I’m gonna hoy out fitness levels cos they looked dead on their feet.

Poor point as it stands, it may become a good point as we go on.

Say what you want about the forwards but he was through if Jobe slid in a simple last 5 mins

I can’t believe I’m saying this again:

He has nothing to aim at! Nothing! Zero! There is no striker. Striker no there.

Not being facetious but as a striker would you have a clue when a cross was coming in from Clarke?

And 9/10 it’s a toe poked last ditched “ball in”

Two chances from Pritchard crosses as his body shape told everyone that the cross was coming.

Clarke was shite inside the box. Barely lifts his head up and I’m not sure he completed a pass in there.
Seems to be a trait of all our players, Pritchard done exactly the same at the end. These are skillful attacking players as well and they never appear to actually try to pick out a man, just hit it across.
